You realize most M5 owners that post here could easily get the LCI M5 if they wish? Right? Its not even out yet. Don't project yourself into the situation.

To most people, they probably can't tell the difference between a pre or post-LCI 5er, or hell even a G30 or F10 5er, M5 and M550, and so on, what about this LCI dates the pre-refresh greatly? The changes aren't that significant. The car as a whole has looked dated since its first day on sale and still does even post-LCI since it borrows so heavily on the F10 design which is now 10 years old, that's not to say that its a bad looking car, as its very good looking, but the design is far from fresh or new in a sense.

Too sophisticated take!
It's bold! It's like the Acura TL when it came out in 2009 with the beak and was too bold! Maybe the Avant guard of its time too?!

Pre LCI F90 will be the benchmark in design if this is the direction the brand moves in. There's nothing dated about it. The new 4 and this LCI are an R&D expense to see if the BMW faithful care more about looks than performance. I think you know how the faithful feel about the looks... |

As for the 911, some people do find it dated, hence why jokes are made that its looked the same since the 70's and that they can't tell a new from old. Dated does not mean ugly, dated just means it doesn't look fresh or new, to which the current 5-series is. It could easily be confused for an F10 car from 2012. I am not saying BMW needs to change the design, I am simply saying that it is dated.

It's just a midcycle refresh, same as pretty much all other manufacturers do with their vehicles....same car, change the headlights/taillights, maybe a minor bumper change, otherwise by in large the same car. As it's name implies, Impulse....or in other words, not worth upgrading from an older F90 but if you're impulsive then you can, lol. No one makes a bigger deal about it than BMW owners. |

In the red paint, surrounding the intake. Little bumps. They're small, and hard to see at first. Likely byproducts of the camo that may have been previously attached. I can't imagine these would be features on the production car.
