Of course, they may surprise at NAIAS too. Quote:
Interesting - I didn't realize there was an appreciable difference in size between the ATS sedan and 3 Series. I'll have to look at the numbers closer. |

I think the ATS-V will be a great performer and give the M3/M4 a run for it's money. It might even out perform it.
But the reason it won't stand out is the styling, both interior and exterior The ATS still suffers from that "old" Cadillac image, and that's mostly who I see buying the ATS. They broke away from this more with the CTS, but it still has that "old persons car" look, especially in the rear. For the next gen ATS they need to go all out, if they want younger consumers they need to offer a car they want to be seen in, instead of hedging their bets with styling that's one foot in, one foot out. I understand Cadillac is scared to lose their older consumers, but if the ATS isn't intended for them, they take more risk with the design, especially with the next gen. |

While I really respect what Cadillac is doing as a company, and definitely have high respect for their new crop of cars, I just couldn't live with myself saying I drive a Cadillac. Hopefully they can turn their image around.

I do not like the interior styling of the current Cadillacs. The center stack and the touch-enabled buttons are too much, & way over done (ostentatious).
Volume knob anyone..? But, the ATS is a better car than the 3-series, just too bad the interior is meant for frilly Americans. Less, I would be REALLY interested in a lightweight ATS-V. Even though the ATS is a better car, I prefer BMW's spartan interior and the reason I keep on buying them. Perhaps the new ATS will go a different route for interior? |

But the problem is

In my view, the M5 is a flop. And I am scared the same philosophy has been followed for the M3/4. I am waiting with my next purchase to see and test-drive it first, but not in anticipation, more likely in dread. Last edited by BlackLight; 01-10-2014 at 11:34 AM.. |

Given that the new 3/4 series has had a slightly warmer reception than the F10, hopefully we're at a better starting point. Also BMW is claiming that the new M3/4 will be a large departure from the base models, so hopefully that's true. |

Heavily rumored to be a 3.6L TT V6. No rumors of AWD, though it would be something else if they sprung that on us, yeah?

Body control looks solid, not doubt it's fast but looks like it handles also. Transitions are impressive and driver is braking deep and trailing and the car is NOT sliding everywhere, sign of confidence. GM is putting out some great products.
I just don't identify with the brand, at all. The new Escalade looks like a cartoon of a supersized, overdone American SUV. Last edited by consolidated; 07-29-2014 at 09:54 AM.. |

If it has the CTS Vsport twin turbo, that would be a great engine. It dyno'd 458whp and 511wtq with only a tune. The ATS-V will most likely have a slightly better intake and exhaust system over the CTS Vsport so it would make even more power.
