Really enjoyed your write up! Looks like your M5 is Aventurin Red, what's your opinion of that compared to the Tesla multi coat?

Though I wonder what happens when the owner drives outside Oregon?

This includes my 2018 M5, 2021 E63s, multiple Lexus' and other brands
You should play the lottery. I'm not willing to take the risk to deal with everything through an app and get Uber credits instead of a loaner in the event that my car needs service.

I mean I don't see what's so bad about uber credits (theyll give you as much as you need), they'll give you a loaner for anything that takes 2 days or more, and half the time they just send someone out to fix the issue for you (for example got a flat tire, they sent out a tech with a loaner wheel, I got to keep my car and drive around and they came back 3 days later with my wheel with a new tire (wasnt in stock). Rather than go to bmw find out tire not in stock, loaners booked out for 3 weeks and have a nice day!

Also what "risk" are we talking about with the app? The fact that you don't have to talk to a service advisor and can just drop your car off, and pick it up whenever?

Nice write up, soooma ! I know someone else who switched from a Model S performance to an M8 after owning 9 Teslas. You read that right — 9 of them. Model S, Model X, and several variants as Tesla improved power and Autopilot. What he discovered while looking at the new Plaid was that Tesla is managing its design and assembly costs by carrying over controls and other interior elements from the Model 3 and Model Y. He couldn't justify spending $150,000 USD on something that looked like a $55,000 Model 3 on the inside and without a dedicated gauge cluster and HUD. He went to the M8 without ever having owned a BMW in his life.

At any rate, both of your cars are beautiful. Love the color choices. Ciao!

I don't want Uber credits - I want a loaner. When my car is being serviced and I have questions, I don't want to enter a ticket in an app and hope for a response. I want to speak to a human. You may be okay with the Tesla service experience. I've researched enough to find it completely unacceptable for me. Everyone's circumstances are different yet Tesla owners like to insist that Tesla's bare-bones service model meets customers' needs universally. It doesn't.

I can kind of understand the loaner thing, but since I have other cars as long as I can get home I don't really care as much. As for your questions after you put in your ticket you do end up chatting with a human after your request has been reviewed, so if you have questions (which i personally can't see what questions other than when is my car done you'd need to ask) you will get your answers, same when you drop off your car during business hours you "can" sit and talk to the person for hours if you want and even talk to the tech that's working on your car if you really want to, nothing is stopping you, just you also have the hands free option of "I'm an introvert I don't want to talk to anyone or see anyone and I want my brake pads replaced"

But everyone is different not trying to force a Tesla on you, just was curious as to your reasonings is all.

Yeah not having HUD sucks, but both model s and x have retained the dash, only 3 and Y don't have the dash and just have the screen (which I hate btw lol) but bmw and other car manufacturers aren't really that much better... look at an m3 vs an m5, very similar other than not having the digital climate controls (same dash and a few other elements). If you really wanted to argue you could say the cheaper 3 and 4 series get more love than the 5 and the 8, 3 series lci gets idrive 8 vs m8 doesn't for example (both 2023 model years). Same with teslas 3 and Y get things first and they trickle down the line since more people are willing to spend 40-60k on a car than 130-160k on a car so makes sense to test things out on the more affordable model before putting those features on what's considered a premium model. (Like the virtual ac vents, horizontal tilting screen etc)

This follows the trend I've been seeing. I now know more FORMER Tesla owners than people who actually drive Teslas.

Thanks for the pic's. It just reaffirms my thinking. That M5 is a beautiful car. The Tesla is flat out ugly. And I don't think I could ever get past the lack of the exhaust sound.

Faster isn't always funner is definitely true.

Lol indeed, teslas definitely leave a lot to desire in the looks department, but that acceleration is nothing to scoff at. Like even my 2019 model s performance doing a launch you can tell is significantly faster than my m5. But that'd really all they have is speed and the self driving gimmick. (Which again would've been nice in the pouring rain today when I had the m5🤣&#129315

I think having the best of both ends is ideal. Best ICE is bmw. Best EV is tesla. How about best gas guzzling 4wd :-). My 4runner gets 12mpg.

Looks like we're the same haha, my m5 can run your 4 runner for the mpg honestly, but also have an old chevy 2500hd for hauling stuff that gets about 8 mpg🤣🤣🤣. (Or 5 mpg when towing a car)

I rate my Tesla 8/10. People don’t understand why I don’t love it. I’ve had 18 BMWs and the gas savings is nice and convenient but the rattles and overall quality of the car will make you feel like it is more of a gadget than a car. Still good to go from place to place and it feels like the future. But BMW does cars very well.

And now Tesla is the stuck up company by not admitting to its failures or even being willing to address them. At least bmw started adding cupholders and started listening to customers when they complained about stuff

Just do what I did: get a model s performance from like 2018-2020 as a second car, ends up being just about as much as the gas and you get a second car basically for free😁
But at least test drive MSP and then decide
