You're right. If I'd looked more closely it's not the same arm! To get a look at the tension strut I think you have to remove the lower panel, or the whole inner fender. The mounting point for the tension strut will be toward the front of the car from the picture you took, Shawn. Your picture is of what BMW calls the wishbone according to a suspension diagram.

I'll have to double check when I have the car up. This one was obvious from under the car in front. I wondered if I had the right arm.

Sorry I got the wrong arm. I'll have a look when I have her up switching tires. But have to remove fender lining to see it?

That's disappointing…

I just ordered them. Thanks for your feedback. I am installing them along with the rear link kit from Dinan. This thing better became an e39 M5 in feel.

Great feedback!

I put a set on my m550i and like them a lot as well, i didn't like the floaty steering.

With those tou clearly get a more precise and direct steering ! A bit more harshness too but i'm super sensitive to this, my passengers haven't felt any change.

The other end being a ball joint, idk why you can just pull the bolt and have it drop down a bit and just press them out with a kit from Amazon etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong from those who have done it? I am intrigued and love to DIY as much as I can. But have never replaced bushings as of yet. Haha

Changed my control arms and wish ones on my F15 plenty however. But I don't like the idea of dropping the axel for a control arm bushing.

Did you order two sets of the same monoball to use in the rear? Or did you get the rears from a different brand? The Dinan listed ones look like fronts only.

Ah ok, I saw that kit but I misunderstood and thought there was a bushings kit for the rear too. Thanks

It truly makes the steering and suspension feel like a pre-EPS M car. Feels like hydraulic steering now and it's completely transformed the steering feel. I also have the Dinan HAS coil over system dialed in just right and this just completed the whole setup. Exactly what I had hoped for and more.

So I've now driven almost 200 miles already since I simply can't stop driving it so I think I've had enough driving time to post my thoughts.. Mixed driving styles ranging from the "normal civilized BMW driver" to the "highly spirited BMW driver" and lastly the "deranged lunatic a-hole BMW driver" The car is now super direct and immediate, has perfect steering weight and resistance ( seriously..perfect ), and the entire suspension setup feels like one solid piece from the front wheels directly to the steering wheel. No bump steer, no loose and disconnected feeling under heavy braking and turning or uneven crappy roads, and there literally is zero delay to your inputs, just immediate, solid, tactile response you can feel in the palm of your hands when holding and turning the steering wheel.

Another really cool change is how planted and solid the car feels even just driving straight on the highway, there is now zero play in the suspension and the best part is there really is no noticeable degradation in NVH which honestly was very unexpected. It truly is one of THE BEST mods I've ever done period.

In closing if you want the suspension and steering to be as perfect as the M5's drivetrain a really good coil over HAS kit like DINANs and their front monoball thrust arm bushings are simply a must have. I think even just the monoball kit would be a huge upgrade This entire setup IMO makes the already amazingly capable M5 comp to complete driving perfection. To me my M5c is now a super sedan with no peers and any of the very few minor shortfalls the F90 had now perfected it really is the best sports sedan on the planet. So happy now lol.

I've literally been waiting all day to type this little review, I feel like I need everyone to know about this severely, outrageously, underrated F90 upgrade. Trust me, it's not just "good for the track" it's actually perfect for a daily driven or weekend warrior F90 M5 with what I think to be a zero downside upgrade. Soooo, take 2 monoballs in the morning and reply to this thread, Doctors orders. If you value a perfectly precise and balanced handling F90 M5 you will be VERY glad you did
Thanks for reading and sorry for the super long post, I'm just so pleased with the outcome. Seriously though, if possible do these mods, you'll just enjoy the car so much more. Sorry no pics.

I'm back in this thread again to thank you, as I finally received the parts and installed them 2 days ago, they're great, I guess especially the monoballs, the car feels like one size down, the steering feels more condifent, accelerating and braking feels more stable and straight.

IND or other vendors that actually have them in stock. DINAN has fallen off the map when it comes to supplies for almost everything. Hopefully they make through 2022 still in one piece although i wouldn't be surprised if APR eventually sells them off piecemeal.

Is there still that bad of a backlog on these?

Have anyone heard how Carbahn Front Monoball compares?

I checked with IND and they do not.

There are many products in short supply these days. It’s not just a Dinan problem. Front monoball conversions are not hard to make — you just put a standard lemforder or similar ball joint inside an insert sized to fit the suspension arm opening and use a retaining system such as ears and bolts. The Carbahn one should be just as good. For some higher volume BMWs there are more than 2 options, but the M5 mod market is fairly small.

It really is a big difference, I drove a brand new stock m5 to a customers house the other day and even regular slow driving it didn't feel as good. The m5 benefits greatly from this small mod, both high speed and low speed driving. A good HAS kit and the dinan or carbahn equivalent suspension bushings, links, etc complete the whole package. Love my m5.

I am going to try to install mine on the car if I can put together the right selection/size of bushing drivers and receivers and there is enough access with the ball joint still in the knuckle. If not, I will pull and press.

I have the fronts but the ETA on my order for the rear suspension kit is 9/30/2022. My H&R spring (M5 specific) order is 8/30/2022.
