LCI performance options?

So given that ECU/TCU tuning isn't exactly mainstream yet, what other performance options are available given my mod list below:
  • RaceChip
  • CTS Turbo Air Intake
  • Evolution Racewerks catless secondaries
  • 90C Performance Thermostat

I know that I could install catless primaries but don't want to deal with the CEL and if my understanding is correct, you need an ECU tune to take full advantage of this mod. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure xHP has a tune for the tranny.

Delete midpipe and exhaust will help with some of that airflow restriction. Could also do hi flo cats and not get a CEL. I mean if you're doing the secondaries might as well do both since you have to access them Both.

Unfortunately I just checked their support database and they don't have one for the LCI.

It's the same transmission. Interesting. What's your 4-7 vin numbers? My 2020 is JFOC.

AC Schnitzer do a piggy back tune, but it is horrifically expensive. It basically gives you an extra 100nm of torque.

How's your current setup running compared to stock? I have the same car as you and also don't want to do the whole "send off the ecu" route so trying to pick my mods.

Then it's racechip or JB4 or Dinan. Performance wise they're all similar. JB4 has some ability for added functions like control meth kits etc. dinan is the weakest of the bunch.

Just wondering whether Racechip + intake + catless secondaries + sportscat primaries will have a meaningful impact on a 2021 LCI Comp. Same mods as the OP basically. Have you dynod? And how does the butt dyno feel?

RaceChip will add roughly 60rwhp and 60rwtq. The rest might get you another 10

The 1-2% improvement from drop ins is un-noticable. I found the secondary cat removal allows quicker turbo spool at lower rpm and the sensation of more torque. I couldn't guess what a dyno would measure the improvement as. The upshot is, with a boost controller piggy the turbo is working a bit less hard to make its target PSI if you have minor intake and exhaust mods.

First and foremost guys, sorry for the delayed response. My family and I were on vacation in NYC, then we all got COVID from the trip, and then my wife gave birth to my son on Sunday. Its been quite the month.

Interesting. I was not aware of this and will look into it.

Car runs great. The RC was the most noticeable difference, especially when I treat the car to E30 occasionally. I wish I could run that all the time. I have to be honest, I really don't notice much of a difference performancewise from the CTS and catless secondaries other than sound. However, its been 100+ everyday here in Austin for a long time now. Having said that, its not the most ideal situation to test mods.

Here are a couple of Dragy runs from when the weather was cooler and the DA was good. Mods at the time of this run were RC (map 7) and charcoal delete w/ BMC airfilters.

As I said above, the RC produces the most noticeable difference, but it was there before the addition of the intake and catless secondaries. I'm going to have to wait until cooler weather and lower DA to do some runs to get an idea of if there is a performance increase with those two mods.

I did have the car dyno'd but take the results with a grain of salt. You can read about it here https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1918583. After talking with other people and tuners in Austin, I was told that the dyno operator where I had the pulls done doesn't really know how to dyno M5s. Unfortunately its the only AWD dyno in this area that is open for public use.

Yes, $5 or 6k maybe, but not $19. It is just too expensive. Good lift in performance though.

There’s no way that’s 19k they probably don’t even have in stock and just raised the price to 19k instead of putting not in stock

XHP said to me in an email that the 3rd gen TCU in the LCI F90 and G30 is being developed. No ETA mind.
