Non staggered wheels and same tires

Hi all,

Contemplating some options and was wondering if anyone had some thoughts/opinions/experience?

Factory tires on M5 Comp is:
Front: 275 35 20
Rear: 285 35 20

I want to put together a rainy season, winter setup and wonder if I can purchase 2 additional rear wheels and run all the same size wheels and tires front and rear?

The differences in size is so minimal that I am quite confused as to why BMW even went through the effort.

I have done a lot of searching on this subject and have not seen any answers…

Anyone?

No one running 10.5" wheels front and rear with same tire size?

I ran 10" with 275s during the winter, no issues

I tried a rear on the front and if I remember correctly it clashes with the strut, the wheels have the same offset front to rear and as the rear is an inch wider it’s then half an inch closer to the strut. If it didn’t exactly clash it was too close for comfort otherwise I would have gone all square on my 863M’s
