How can a V8 sound so bad and tame ? Really, I don't think there is a V8 sounding worse than this.

Installed mine today and it’s honestly a slight difference. You will hear a lot more burble, and it’s louder at WOT. At idle and normal driving you cannot even tell a difference.

That’s it exactly. It gets slightly louder in the same spots after a few miles.

My decibel meter showed zero gain at idle and at a held 2000rpm. It increased by 6dB with the throttle blips. Burbles are louder and 1/3 to wot is louder.

I’m starting to like it more, the more I drive it. I was going to just keep it until Akra was released this fall.....but I might just keep it. The M5 is incredibly insulated. I can roll the driver side window down and go wot and it sounds great. To get that sound inside the cabin would take a really loud exhaust and get me too much police attention. If you want a low speed rumble this upgrade is not it.......wait for a race muffler from Eisenmen, etc.

You can buy just the black chrome exhaust tips from IND, and install those yourself in about 5 minutes. That's what I did to hold me over.

The Mperformance exhaust (just the front muffler and 2 clamps) will take about 2 weeks to deliver, if you're in the states (according to my dealer--the only ones are located in Germany), so I'm waiting on my parts to arrive. I'll probably just have them installed at the 1200 mile service.

It sounds like it's supposed to. The design of the exhaust manifold (patented cross bank dual twin-scroll EGT's) is pulse tuned to provide minimal turbo-lag which results in a combustion note like that of a flat plane V8 (even pulses through 360° of firing). A Forced Induction Front engine Ferrari V8 is the most similar comparison. It won't ever sound like an AMG V8 (N63 can however).
