These seem like the type of thing that people will buy when the get an m5 CPO. Not fresh of the production line at 120k or when it's leased

Not saying that no one will do it. But is not likely at this price point and considering most of these vehicles will be leased right now

Not to mention you'd be staring at a CEL every time you drive it

Why wouldn't you tune the ECU if you were doing downpipes?

The amount of power and torque the S63 motor gains with a reflash is INSANE and now the F90 M5 will be even more fun to drive at insane power levels with M xDrive.

I'm not denying any of the performance gains. I'm simply stating the market for these seems like it would be extremely small right now.

And likely would be for a couple years

What does leasing have to do with it? Just reinstall the cats before you turn it in.

My point: you don't play like this with leased cars. Which most of the M5 being delivered in the first couple years will be. I could definitely see this on CPO cars. And again, I'm not say no one will buy downpipes for a new car. Only saying market is small.

And I'm not surprised that the owners of those cars like porsche and exotics go online to mod seek out info and share information on forums.

Because that is more work than it's worth. The percentage of people who mod is tiny, the percentage of people who mod brand new cars is tinier.

My thoughts in passing:

1) A lot of people, including myself, will mod their car early in the life cycle.

2) Despite that I would not go with downpipes this early in the game - I prefer to wait until at least a few other options are available in the marketplace, to compare and assess quality.

3) The welds (?) on these downpipes leave a lot to be desired. I'm not impressed. Attention to detail matters - for me at least.

4) To me (this is personal opinion) installing downpipes without ecu/chip/flash tune is a mistake. I would wait for a proven combination of downpipes+software.

5) Lusso, please post dyno charts establishing the claimed gains.

for a new car, there could be huge differences particularly between a lease and a purchase (finance or outright). It comes down to residual and actual car value after the lease date.

you're partially correct. People tend not to tune cars that are still under warranty. But downpipes are bolt ons...it's easily reversible as are intakes, exhausts, suspension parts, cosmetics.

I just got my S63, but my understanding is the DME for the S63 will automatically adjust for bolt ons (intake, exhaust and downpipes).

I could be wrong, still learning a lot about the motor. On the S65, I think there will be minimum gains without a tune. Also to add, I'm guessing this part is no different than the current S63B44TO downpipes. I'm not surprised a vendor has already released these bolt ons.
