Vibration starting at about 95MPH
I’ve noticed a vibration start at about 95MPH. Up through 110MPH it seems to stay about the same. I don’t think it’s coming through the steering wheel, but feels like something in front.
Anybody else have it? |

Turned out it was a very slight bend of the inside lip on one of my front rim. Maybe a pothole or too aggressive on a curb at the track, I dunno. With time, it was degrading the interior of the tire around that spot faster and became worse as the tire was wearing. No one ever mentioned it when I was replacing tires. I saw it one day at the track for myself when I was having the tires replace onsite and looking at what they were doing. If I didn't say anything they would have just give back the car without saying anything...

Without more info, it could be tires, tire pressure too low or bent rim. Take it into a tire shop and have them take a look and rebalance. Could have lost a wheel weight.
How many miles on the tires? |

The vibration doesn’t happen under braking, I’m accelerating from 95MPH
I took a look today, but it’s pretty hard to see without getting it jacked up. As for pressures, I think they’re ok, but I will check. I’ve only got about 3,300 miles on it, but I do recall a pretty good bump over a bridge expansion on the freeway a few months ago. It could have bent a rim I suppose. Careful on fwy 280 in Palo Alto you NorCal guys... The excursions above 95MPH aren’t everyday, so I’ll probably wait until the next service to have them look at it. |
