Just got my M5 F90 and just finished the break in service. I did Launch Control and I also had the sports display up on the monitor so I can see how much horsepower and torque it was using. I was surprised that in first gear when I launched the car it did not use all of its power (450 hp). In fact, the max horsepower my car used was 560 and that was when I reached 5th gear during my launch.. Is this normal? is 600 horsepower only utilized like in 6th gear or something? you would think that the car would utilize all the power when the gas is pushed down all the way, right? Thoughts anyone?

What fuel are you using? And the weather matters A LOT. I live in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and during the afternoon where it’s 30ish degrees Celsius I get around 680 HP, at night I get 720 HP when it’s around 23 degrees celsius.
stage 1 dme, eventuri intake, akrapovic exhaust btw. |

I posted something similar previously, after the car was sent in for service and to rectify a check engine light, the car now feels slower, and the display also confirms so, only ever reaching 540 hp or so instead of around 600 hp before going into the service center. They did a software update during the service and since then the car feels less powerful more stupid when slowing down and dropping gears by it self. I can be coming to slow down from 100kph to about 40 to take a turn or for a speed bump but it would remain in a high gear and now go down to a lower gear suited to that speed. Previously before the service the car was smart, now its just odd

From M5 owners manual- see pics. So if break-in period is up to 3,100 miles, you shouldn't use LC before then.

Regardless it's not like the full power is not unlocked until I hit 3,100 miles

For launch control, what some people are talking about is from a technical guide that says not to use it before 3,100 miles.

It's the the CA 91 octane fuel. This car needs 93 to achieve full spark and boost.
