Carbon Front Grill Carbon Side Grill Carbon Mirrors Carbon Performance Exhaust Carbon Rear Diffuser ///M Strip in front Air Dam (I like it ) I will wait on aftermarket Carbon Front Spoiler Just my opinion...Oh yeah and I'm very conservative. The ///M Strip in front is not bad, it add an aggressive look to car. All the side strips and rear are a bit too much, then you start taking away from the look. Remember. these carbon piece only look good on certain colors not all color can wear the carbon fiber pieces. I hate the rear carbon trunk spoiler. Thanks. |

The power gauge in the video goes up to 640ps instead of 600ps. I'm not aware of BMW having yet communicated about further versions on top of the base F90 M5, but based on the previous generation this obviously seems like a first sneak preview of the Competition Package. Although the M5 shown in the video is supposedly a normal M5 (normal rims) simply adorned with M Performance cosmetic parts and although no official statement seems to have been made so far regarding the forthcoming Competition Package.
Which actually does make sense, as remaining tightlipped about the Competition Package for now allows to not further jam BMW's communication around the M5 (launch, now M Performance parts, safety car...) and allows to first market the M Performance parts without making it too obvious what they actually are (just accessories) by luring the buyers towards the Competition Package already and having them brush over the aesthetic parts, while still leaving a subtle hint to those looking for a more hardcore version ('we do have the real deal too down the line, please be patient and don't leave for the competitors'). While I'm not sure about the styling of the new M5, I agree that one allure of M5s has always been it's Q-ship personality. The fender bulges and power domes have always been left for the M3 since the E46.
As far as the video, the E39 M5 in the garage is nice touch...the M Performance Parts on an M car don't do anything for me.

The driver would be Laura Hayes - she's a Performance Driving Center instructor (and professional racer) and could drive donuts around most people here.

Worst part is when the car is coming out of parking lot and there is a dip, u can hear high revs as if it's driving at high speed. Such a poor editing...they shd make a commercial which feels real. |

I don't understand people who want an M5 to be more aggressive looking in stock form. Weren't these cars meant to be sleeper cars that wouldn't look out of place being driven to work?
As pointed out in the post below, the previous generation M5s were not obviously different to standard 5s unless you were an enthusiast. They looked sportier definitely, but not night and day apart. The point of M performance parts isn't to make the M5 design more like a 'proper M car' but it gives owners who want a more aggressive look the ability to customise their car for such a purpose. Other buyers may prefer the standard understated look. A look at all the previous generations of the M5 is enough to know it has never been ultra aggressive. In fact this generation is probably the most aggressive looking in stock form. Quote:

I thought she looked familiar. I've met Laura several times throughout the years. She's a very nice person. Although, I'm sure it took a lot for her to keep a straight face during the shooting of the video. Haha!
