BMW will release a maximum acceleration video eventually I'm sure. I think I remember reading a post where the point of that video was to show off how quickly multiple gear changes could happen, not so much the 0-62mph time.

There is one available. The raw footage is quite long and includes many sequences. I just hate being called an asshat by the BP equivalent of a queef.

I've never driven a performance oriented automatic transmission that shifted for you. Without any experience, I'm going to say with a very high degree of confidence that the DCT and the ZF 8HP both are capable of bouncing off the rev limiter.

People like having fast cars so that they can play around and have fun. That is generally the purpose of buying high performance car. 0-60 times are a very good representation of speed and power because generally you won't go any faster than 100 mph, thus top speeds aren't as important to daily drivers.
