Exterior Chrome Trim Is Now Permanently Cloudy

Just curious if any one else has noticed that their exterior chrome window trim has become permanently cloudy?

I have tried a couple of different chrome polishes, even had a skilled detailer look at it and it is still there.

The car has always been garaged and I have never applied any funky products to it [it is not calcium deposits/water marks].

With this added to the miserable quality of the new interior "soft-touch" plastic spray paint finish it looks to me like BMWs value engineering is really showing badly on the e9x series.

I would pay gladly another grand or so for better quality interior and exterior parts.

Is the window trim actually chrome? Mine doesn't look like chrome to me. Instead, it looks like polished aluminum, or something like that. The chrome paint on the plastic kidney grills is much shinier--more like chrome.

I'm pretty sure it's polished aluminum at least on the coupe.

Mine is the same way. I just got the vehicle and just noticed the same thing. I wonder if it would be covered under warranty? How can we polish this up?
