QUESTION

10X20 et 14 285/35R20
11X20 et 23 295/35R20

I know for a fact there are people here that know the exact answer to my question so I’m really hoping someone chimes in. Right now my car is coming with the stock 20 inch wheels. If I go with the above sizes how many millimeters closer to the fender will the front and back wheels be? How many millimeters further out will they be? I don’t even know the stock size wheels and offsets other than I know they’re at 20 inch wheels. Thanks in advance

I’m not able to give you the exact answer you’re wanting, but perhaps you might enjoy learning about offsets from one of the MANY sites online that show how to calculate the dimensions. This is just one https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ and when you have your car you’ll be able to measure the distances of the stock wheels and tires to determine what you want in an aftermarket wheel and tire size. Much safer to do your own measurements than taking advice from those of us who post on here. You have no idea if our posts are accurate or not.

I have studied those websites many times. I just figured since this car is in its fifth and final year of manufacturing. Everyone would have this down to a T by now. Apparently I was wrong. Thanks for your input.

i dont think anyone here will be able to answer how many mm's. But i suggest you stick with these specs youll be very happy.

I am running 21x10.5 and 21x11.5 with slightly more aggressive offsets and i am VERY happy

Cool. So you are happy with the specs I provided? They will work and not stick out too far or cause any rubbing?

They will poke out slightly, but I went for that look. I am lowered on 285 F and 295 R tires with no rubbing anywhere

So you are saying you have the exact same specs I’m thinking about doing? I wish you had a picture of looking right down the side of your car so that you could see exactly how far the wheels stick out. Also, in the pictures you provided those tires looks stretched on those rims. What are your thoughts?

Is anybody running 285s out front and 305’s out back? So it it would be 285/35ZR20 and 305/35ZR20. Will these work on the M5?

Ill try to take a picture tomorrow in good light, looking right down the side of the car.

If your worry is that it will rub - rest assured ZERO rubbing issues and again i am lowered on F90 H&R Springs.

The rear 295 does stretch more than I wanted but I wanted to be safe that I would NOT rub since i am lowered or ELSE i would have gone with 305 in the rear.

Another reason I did NOT go with 305 in the rear is because I would not be able to fit 295 in the front with my wheel specs. The 285 just BARELY clears inside the fender liner when the wheel is turned fully either way. I was told and read that we should keep tire widths only "1 size wider" from front to rear to match OEM ratios (OEM is 275/285, I went with 285/295). I cannot confirm this but I was told than running 2 sizes wider, it can "throw off" or eventually cause some sort of damage with the xdrive...how and why? I do not know. BUT I DO personally know another F90 in LA, CA even lower than me running 275 in the front and 295 in the rear (2 width size difference).

My fear for you is that 305/35 is more meat than 305/30, and I am running 30 profiles, you will be running 35.

Just trying to understand your concern here. Are you worried about rubbing, because you should not worry about it, you'll be fine! And asking people here about a 1-2-3-4-5mm difference on wheel/tire specs might be harder than you think, even if the platform has been out and modded since 2018. Ill be back with photos from the top later this week

Brother, thank you so much for being so helpful. I was definitely aware of not going up two sizes with xdrive. You are totally right. I did not know 285s out front is pushing it as far as fitment goes. That does concern me. However, the biggest worry I have is a stretched look. The whole purpose of getting different wheels and tires is to make the car look better. It was suggested perhaps going with cup 2 instead of pilot 4S because they won’t look as stretched. The problem is, I don’t know man. I really am totally ignorant on this subject. I just don’t want to make a mistake. After five years of this model, I really thought this subject would be cut and dry.

PS4S is going to be significantly better for day to day street driving. I’d save Cup 2s for the track, especially with your frequent Florida “liquid sunshine” rain.

To avoid stretched look, stick with 21x10 F and 21x11 R.
My set up looks stretched due to the wide rim in the rear 11.5" over 11".

My previous set up was 21x11 and I had NO stretch on 295/30/21.

And no problem, I am glad my input is able to help

You can have a better daily tire (PS4S) and avoid the stretched look.

Have your cake, and eat it, too. Life is too short.

The lack of participation in this thread is surprising. I really thought at least five or six people that know exactly what works and doesn’t would have chimed in with their expertise and pictures. At least you would think some board vendors would’ve made themselves available. I’m even surprised the members that always get annoyed when people start threads that have been discussed in the past have not even come here to criticize that I started this thread. Lol. But if you’re that guy, please look at my question below and you will see that I would have to literally search this foum for days and I still probably wouldn’t find the answer I’m asking for.

Here we go-
Stock front wheels (if you order 20” wheels) are 20X9.5 et28 correct?

So if I go with a 20X10 that immediately adds roughly 12mm or 1/2 inch to the overall width of the wheel and roughly the equivalent of using a 6mm spacer on the stock wheels as far as pushing the wheel out towards the
fender correct?

So if I go with a 20X10 et 14 that would be equivalent to using a 20mm spacer on stock wheels? Is my math correct here?

I don’t really understand how manufacturers make wheels, so maybe when you get to a wider wheel offset the math changes?

Have you seen this thread about OEM wheels and spacers? https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1577139

Your fitment in question is like putting 20mm spacers front, and 11mm rear. Many go with 15f/12r and they’re often lowered. Lowering will tuck the wheel in, especially in the front, so if you’re not lowered, et14 will look quite aggressive.
