Porsche told me when I had my 911 that I had to buy the "Porsche supplied tyres" from them, again they had a mark on them, infact I think it was a letter to signify that they were Porsche supplied. I called my local tyre shop who said they could get the "Porsche tyres" so I ordered them through them. Got chatting to them and it turned out that they fitted most of the tyres for Porsche anyway as they outsourced much/all of it.

I believe Porsche tires are identified with the letter N on them.
