BMW please read this...
How about an edition with some retro mode:
. ASD with customisable sound allowing you to switch engine tone from the E28 to the E60
. Instrument cluster with dials from E28 to E60
This would reflect nicely on the history of the car and be differentiated from all other manufacturers.

Nope, not a fan of that look. I like tech, digital displays, and bold design, but I also like the simplicity of circles and round shapes for instrumentation whether they’re analog or digital. Simulated round gauge dials is still where it’s at. They’re quicker and easier to read at a glance, or just more familiar to most, or a little bit of both. The geometric shapes seem overwrought and less visually ergonomic, and as a result can confuse the eye at quick glance.

I like Audi’s virtual cockpit in their S/RS/R8 cars, and even lambo’s more ostentatious implementation all still adhere to the simpler simulated round gauge dials, probably for that very reason; because they’re easier to read at quick glance. Crucial to the true purpose of car instrumentation; so the driver can pay more attention to other things. Probably why Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Audi, McLaren, and others have stuck with simulated round dials for their digital instrument panels for the most part.

But if you like the more futuristic sci-fi look of the latest bmw live cockpits, then that’s all that matters, and to hell with visual ergonomics! I do agree that they do look pretty damn cool, but just not my cup of tea.

Where is the crazy price for this?

Looks cool!

Not sure if it's better than comp pack, definitely more unique...worth money? I wouldn't spend extra

this far has nothing special to offer.
Why are you expecting a facelift on a car in its 2nd year of production?

Think it's interesting it get the new live cockpit and new iDrive mid way through model phase however.

WRT those who don't like the appearance of the car, this comes down to a matter of aesthetics. WRT the cost, what's $9k more for an M5 in the grand scheme of "special" editions?

I don't doubt for a moment that those who want a special M5 will think this car is great. It's different from "ordinary" M5s. That's enough. I'm sure the vast majority will be ordered by iPhone by those who will never see the car, much less sit in one, before it arrives.

The people mocking the car are current M5 owners. Can't be a coincidence.

forgive my ignorance, but why did BMW not make real carbon fiber trim for this car?

I think it is a production issue. I heard BMW is running behind on M Badge production due to demand for the part.
