WTF! I just had my 1200 mile break-in on September 9th 2019 and they only changed these fluids:
83-22-2-413-511 HYPOID AXLE OIL 83-22-2-447-362 HYPOID AXLE OIL DIFF FLUID SERVICE 1200 ENGINE OIL SERVICE (this task was completed during another servicing several months ago way too soon [only 219 miles] - that was a story within itself and I bitched about it) So, now I wonder when those fluids need to be changed... and how much that’ll cost. |

This was relayed via a PuMA measure so I don't know the details but I would assume that those fluids could be replaced at a later service interval just not in the break-in service.
If I get more details I will post them. |

I would have to look in the service manual, but I believe a different weight/viscosity oils are used in the diffs to assist break-in then change to a different weight/viscosity once adequate wear-in complete. The new oil put in the diffs should be good for life of car now (unless manual says different) and hopefully we don't get hit with an M-tax down the road on those out of service warranty. Since I plan on keeping the car, I'll likely change the diff oil again at maybe 80-100k even if BMW says don't worry about it. |
