Wow! Congrats on the purchase. I get so many compliments on my SO M3...the color just pops. Be prepared to have random people chatting with you about this new beast.

Congrats it's Hot! I have the same color on my
16 M6 . Did the all the cosmetic in Satin Black.
and got the chrome on the door handles painted
In Black also. When will BMW stop using that
Cheap chrome look?????
Why should they quit using the cheap plastic chrome looking pieces when they know that customers will pay extra for " blacked out" cheap plastic pieces as "M performance parts " or part of enhancements on a "
Competition package " ... ?

all the old geezers that like chrome would probably never pay for chrome looking " M performance " parts.

The chrome grilles still look like distinct BMW kidneys, which is a good thing. Also, the headlights have that very reflective, chrome colored eyebrow inside, so without the chrome kidneys, those then become your "chrome injected for no good reason." Might as well let the headlights and grille play together. There is still a relatively large black center section inside the kidneys, so plenty aggressive IMHO. Black wheels look good. I'd just leave this beast as it is and enjoy! Congrats!
I'd argue that the use of black grilles and other trim pieces instead of chrome on the competition package shows that even BMW is aware the black looks better than the chrome.

So, BMw can make some extra money off people who want the look of the black trim, but don't care for the additional comp pack performance, but spend the $$$ on the comp pack anyway for the black components/better look. Some people just don't feel like doing anything after market to their cars.
To each their own. Nothing wrong with the black grilles if you like them. To be fair, BMW probably specs the black grilles on the comp pack because all of the stop light racers out there just naturally equate the color black with the word "aggressive." Take one of my cousins, for example. He has a beautiful silver Maserati, but chose to wrap it the ugliest black wrap possible, then blacked out the side vents, wheels, etc. Looks horrid, but he thinks it's more "aggressive" and looks better. Again, to each their own.

What BMW thinks "looks better" is irrelevant since they are only trying to sell cars. Also, if BMW had any clue what looks good, they wouldn't have put silver mirror caps on the m235i/m240i or royally F'ed up the kidney grille shape on some of their newer designs (iX3, 5er, M2C).

Hmmmm....

I had an Indianapolis Red E60 M5 which falls into your definition of "old man red" - but I can assure you that it didn't prevent me from being "randomly" (or not randomly ) pulled over several times. I can tell you I was pulled over in that M5 than I have been in my Guards Red 911 Turbo (991).

The chrome parts look so out of place!
Other than those, the car is simply stunning!

Went to the dealer to build one out with this exact color. Told me it might be an extra 3 months, did you face this delay?

Wow. Didn’t follow my own thread for weeks.
It was at Celebrity BMW of Springfield. Close to home. They’ve always treated me well.

I’ll post new pics with a few mods shortly.

Yes. But in the scheme of things keeping Car for 6+ years so 3 months won’t matter.

Back in forum after a brief hiatus. So very few mods:
- Black chrome exhaust
- Painted front grille
- Xpel on bumpers/skirts (can't see)
- Installer surprised me with the roundel - i kind of dig it!

I think I'm tinting the windows 50% (NJ is a pain for this) - i think it would complete the mean look :-)

I find it fascinating all these pics were taken at the exact same time. That color really changes depending on the shadows.

I purchased a new 2016 M4 in Sakhir orange, sight unseen....at first I didn’t like it at all especially if it was overcast. But it really grew on me and I ended up loving it! And the compliments.....I was going to order my F90 M5 in that color and was told as long as it was/is a BMW color it would be $2250 and possibly 4-8 week delay in production. I didn’t want to wait and ended up getting donington grey with full Aragon brown. If I could do it over again, I’d get it in Sakhir orange.
