M5 saved my life last night https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1628215 I think it speaks volumes about these cars when someone walks away from a wreck of this magnitude unscathed !! Having owned two F10 M5's I had more than my share of close calls ... happy to be in an AWD M5 Comp ... God Bless!!!

One of my favorite aspects of this car is that it always feels effortlessly and completely planted. I have no desire to change that.

Learned this the hard way. Tried out one of the the "M" mode buttons a month after having the car - the default setting had dsc off. Spun out making a left turn pulling away from a stop. Felt like a complete idiot. Thankfully nobody else on the road. Could have been so much worse. Car's been set 4wd with dsc on ever since, and will stay that way. I think will try to take one of the BMW M drivers courses to try some of the track oriented settings... on a track.

Damn, looking at those pictures, its hard to imagine someone coming out alive let alone unscathed! You're one lucky guy and great job BMW!
F10 is rear drive only, right? Maybe with the F90 it would have been different?

would have been better in f90 or traction control on but car in front of you starts blowing fluids and things get real slippery real quick. Could have still ended with a similar result. Those pics are nuts though, what a blessing to be unscathed.

glad he's ok but, seriously, anyone who just drives around with traction control off all the time is just asking for it. Not saying it could have saved it here, but it might have. Save DSC OFF for controlled environments.

Looking close at the first picture you can still the instrument cluster glowing ominously (looks normal actually) inside that mangled rat’s nest of a carcass that is the remnants of the car. Kinda reminds of the old terminator movies.... the soul of the car still lives! Bless the engineers, fate, God, Odin, dumb luck or what ever that your still alive! I am going to remember to leave the nannies on like others have said. Things can happen too fast. Glad your ok.
