Shouldn't a simple microfibre cloth, as used for glasses, solve the problem?

Also make sure its brand new microfiber cloth that hasn't been washed. You can't wash microfiber like regular towels as it will hold lots of detergent or softener in it. Or buy microfiber specific wash.

This!
The key here is the process. With one microfiber spray a lot of cleaner on it and really quickly essentially wipe down the entire cluster, then immediately after buff it all out with a clean microfiber. It takes some time but can get it 100% perfect. It's a bit more difficult with the metal rings though since need to pretty much work sections at a time and sometimes there will be hard spots to buff out right at the rings. |

So if Im reading this right, the smudges dont leave but just change directions with new attempts to clean?
How about rubbing alcohol?

My Base M5 is currently on the carrier ship in the UK on its way here. However, my DD is a 2006 550i and I haven’t tested the Whoosh! on it yet. |

Ah roger that - In fact I joked about it. I was thinking it was something else, NP.
I just tested Whoosh! on my iPad, iPhones and TVs. The results are very good. I would go and clean my 550i but it’s 103 degrees outside (including humidity) and during summer, I primarily only work on my car near sunset or if its been cloudy/rainy. So, it has to wait till later. |

Just as another test, I wiped down the rear-inside window that has brand new tinting (I had the entire car re-tinted @2 weeks ago) and it smeared and smudged like crazy! I was sweating my ass off in that back seat for a long time trying to de-smear it. I think I lost 5lbs just perspiring. A bottle-ole bottle of windex-type cleaner “helped” to clear it. Finally, a clean, dry microfiber towel did the trick. I’m 6’ 3” and I’m a bit large to move around in that rear seat area (I have to sit sideways just to reach deep into back deck to wipe the glass. As Ron Burgandy once said - “Stay Frosty My Friend!” |

303
Far and away, using 303 for any interior vinyl or lenses is the best product out there. In my business, we have a fleet of trucks and works well for the abuse the trucks go thru. I have used it on every one of my BMW's and others and my wife had the same problem with the clear lenses on her A8.
Spray a small amount on a clean microfiber towel and wipe it a few times to make sure that it gets in the pores. Then follow, a few minutes later with a dry/clean microfiber towel and buff to a brilliant shine. Can't endorse 303 enough. I buy it by the gallon because of the multiple vehicles.
