Does i-drive bring up an error message if the oil is too high?

I did do a search on oil level readings, but I did not see a confirmation on whether or not the car warns you with a /!\ if the oil reading is over max.

The reason I ask is because in between the time I had the car go in for the 1,200 mile service and the year later oil change service, my gauge-pod oil level screen did say OIL MAX. From my search on this forum, that is apparently fine, unless it is over max. I don't remember what my reading said specifically so I'm wondering if the car WILL warn/notify you if it is OVERMAX with an error message just like if DSC fails or there is an engine problem, or if the car will give only the reading level and not warn you otherwise.

I know this an anal question, but I want peace of mind that I was not driving my car for 10k miles with the oil overfilled, thinking back and remembering "MAX" on the gauge.

I would like to know the answer to this too. In fact I was going to post it. I just had an in between oil change done today at an Indy shop and they first put in 8 quarts and the reading showed a little below the middle marker. They then added the 9th quart and now my gauge is at Max too.

Since the oil change kits u buy do come with 9 qts. I'm guessing it shouldn't be an issue...?

The car does burn a bit of oil too so I'm thinking it may eventually go down and get consumed.

A couple years back I took in my '07 M6 for oil change, and I guess they put too much oil in it. After driving for about a minute I got a warning saying there was too much oil and to drive with caution, I took it right back to the service center and they took care of it. So I'm pretty sure the M3 would give the same warning in this case. Hope that helps.

It will warn you. Several threads on overfills from the dealer triggering the warning.

Yes, they're all right. It will tell you if it is too high.
