Racechip 60-130

Just thought I'd share. My fastest stock was 8.28. This is Racechip Map 7 with no other mods. Happy with the results for such a easy install, good price on used market that should sell for close to what you pay for it, and keeps OEM driveability. A no brainer if you're on the verge. Good job Racechip

Very nice! For me it was the perfect mod as well. Just right.

Yep with 93 octane. I think this is roughly on par with what I've seen others get from race chip. .6 second difference I thought was pretty good for just a tune. What are other stage 1 only F90s running?

You seem in line with most stage 1 tunes, give a look at BM3's for referencing differences. https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1688341&page=6

Seems spot on, almost text book these days regarding performance gains per weather/fuel etc..

Need to get on that E30 lol! This is the wife's car so don't want to go overboard though. She would not understand how to fill E30 haha.

That is great. To put it into race perspective - every 0.1 second equates to about a carlength at around 100 mph so it's safe to guess the racechip gives you conservatively about 6 car lengths vs a stock M5 60-130. Given that 60-130 flies by fairly quickly, that would be quite a distance.

I was considering going with BM3 again (once available for the LCIs), but considering how much better the Racechip seems to adapt to these M5s compared to other BMWs, I'm going with this - especially with the warranty in mind.

Not a bad gain for a simple plug and play. A proper tune, soon available for the LCI’s, is the way to go for the biggest gains, but this is respectable…especially for the price.

Looking at Pre-LCI S63 Stage 1 times (from BM3 for example), they appear to be very similar. You may need to get into further hardware modifications and Stage 2 to see a noticable improvement over the piggybacks.

And this is coming from someone who's a firm believer that flash tunes are typically the way to go and I've had Stage 2 BPM Sport, BM3 and custom tunes on my previous BMWs.

Just purchased a used 19 F90 M5 with 12K mile and ordered the Racechips Black programmer last night. Do you get any kind of pinging at all and what setting do you typically run the Racechips programmer. I live in Nor Cal and we only have 91 octane gas everything is stock on the car at the moment. Is there any documentation that goes over the different settings and hp gains?

Thanks
Dave

91 is not the greatest even in stock form. You can already get more performance with the stock tune just by adding 2g of E85. Personally I feel this car is octane dependent. Not sure how that race chips is designed to work on 91 but I'd thread carefully. Also do logs to see if you have knock.

These cars say right on the gas cap 93 oct recommended. I lost a few mph from 91octane, I would avoid that fuel, it will pull timing.

Do you feel at times racechip don't always work? I don't know, I feel like sometimes I feel it, other times not. More so, after a couple of hard runs or spirited driving.
