275/295 or 285 / 295 or 285/305?

Hey - I've posted a few times, asking questions etc, but this is tough! I can't figure out the best set up, and I'm not sure how the sizes affect the AWD, so I want to be sure I am ok.

My plan:

HRE P101 in 21x10 and 21x11 (still don't know what the offset should be)

Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Size:
Front: 275/30/21
Rear: 295/30/21

Front: 285/30/21
Rear: 295/30/21

Front: 285/30/21
Rear: 305/30/21

I can't seem to understand why I can't go wider in the rear than stock, which is 295 when I'm going to a 21inch wheel and 11 wide. Also, if stock comes 275 and 295, why can't we stay with 20 apart on a 21inch wheel. Why is the 185 and 295 better?

Help!

But there's no 295 stock on the M5. OEM is 275 and 285, so going with 285 and 295 you are going +10 both front and rear, which I assume should be okay with the xdrive.

Oh weird, I could have sworn mine were 295, but I'm probably wrong. My car is getting C quartz and PPF so I'll look when it's back.

I'll probably end up going 285/30/21 and 295/30/21. How can I confirm the AWD won't be messed with going up to 285/30 and 295/30, and is 30 an ok height?

30 profile tires work well with 21" wheels. 285/295 should be fine and in line with OEM diameters.

Would you happen to know if I'm running a 285/35/20 and 295/35/20 tire, can I swap to 285/30/20 and 295/30/20 when I get new tires. My tires look a little beefy.

I don't see why not.

Ride may be a bit more harsh and you'll lose a slight bit of rolling diameter but it should not be an issue from an x-drive perspective and will eliminate the beefiness of the 35 profile tire.

Sorry, you're right it's 285 rear, not sure what I thought it was 295.

According to Michelin perfect setup for 21" would be 285/30ZR21 front and 295/30ZR21 rear.

Some report rubbing near full lock up front. Some report rubbing in the rear on lowered cars when loaded. May depend on the tire used since tires can vary slightly in tread width among the same size. Also 35 series is becoming a bit oversize when you go 20mm wider. Some have gone down to 30 series.

I am thinking about these sizes. I would probably stay with 35 series. One member just installed a set, but I am not sure he has driven enough under all conditions to offer any certainty.

Did you ever end up going 305 on the rear?
