Got Production Number but no Build Week

If a car is in 111 Status but does not have a build week, what does that mean?

Also when an individual color is ordered and the status changes from 111 to 102, does it go back to 111 and get build week assigned? How does it work?

102 is awaiting a build week for an individual color. It will then go to 111 once it has a production week, followed by 112.

Thank you for your response calbears so its normal that a car at 111 status went back to 102 after changing a standard color to individual? It doesn't throw me out of cue and put me back into order bank for BMW to accept it right? Also do you know on average how long it would take from 102 to 111?

Completely normal as BMW does the individual painting in batches, it can take a bit of time to be scheduled and once that happens, you're back to 111. You won't go to the order bank, but individual paint does affect your production week from the original week. That can be between 2-10 weeks.

Okay understood, thank you for the clarification, really appreciate it! I got anxious for a second when it went from 111 to 102 and the myBMW system say "invalid production number". My SA said it will show up once its 111

I know, its really nerve wrecking. I went for Malachite Green Metallic (205) with Aragon Brown Full Leather. Huge fan of Porsche's Oak Green so figured why not. Also seems like there aren't that many around, only saw 2 Pre LCI ones (one comp and one non-comp) online and both were press cars.

Nice choice. Can't wait to see it.

Thank you, can't wait to share it! Just had a sad call with the genius line though. Said the original build week was 9, now its 20 because of the color. 11 weeks seems a little excessive for just exterior paint…

Not really lol you gotta understand they're trying to get other cars that are gonna have the same color together. Because it's a costly and time intensive process to switch out the paint in the booth and individual colors get done at a separate factory altogether. (Just for paint from what I understand). And thats if bmw decides to approve your color in the first place. Which is what 102 means. They get the board together and decide hey we're gonna do it or nah not feeling it.

I see, didn't know that they get sent to a different factory. I thought they empty a paint pit lane for individual and do it in the same place. So if there are less of that color they push it further down? Am I understanding it correctly? Say it was a more "common" individual color, would the production be earlier because it would be in a larger batch?

Also it is a color offered on the F90 and have done it before so I don't know what would make them decide not to accommodate it. Would've loved to sit in that room to see what people are coming up with lol

Basically lol, at least from my understanding of how it works. I could be wrong since my sources are the internets and you know how info on the internet goes lol. But I have a friend who had to pay basically 50k for a paint job on a bmw because he wanted a "custom" color and he had to pay for a whole batch of paint since they can't just make paint for 1 car and it wasn't a color they offered. Not in the us, and it was a fully custom car head to toe lol but something to keep in mind that if the board says yes you can do anything you want

Honestly, if it wasn't for the internet and other peoples (especially on this forum) experiences I feel like a lot of us would be in the dark as to what actually is going on behind the scenes.

Well I was told that the manager at the dealership contacted corporate and they told him that the color I was asking for was offered on the M5 and would add 2 weeks lead time (hence I was confused by the 11 weeks, lol)

I was quoted the standard individual color price (it was around 5K I believe). For 50K he could've gotten a second car lol. That color must have meant a lot to him. Was it also on an M5?

Nope it was a 7 series, he had custom color interior as well and his name engraved in the dash with gold stitching, car cost more than a new rolls lol.

But the "adds 2 weeks" just means that once it enters assembly it takes an extra 2 weeks and if my info is correct it's because they do the paintwork somewhere else.

Lol, it sounds like he really went all out on that build so can only imagine the price it came down to.

I thought 2 more additional weeks for it to go from 102 to 112, I guess that was wishful thinking on my end.. So 2 weeks production will be 4 in my case. And Build Week 20 means basically May 16, so production end would be June 16 and delivery would be August 16 if I don't get pushed back any further..

Ignorance was really a bliss until I called that genius line lol..

My first car did, back in early November after early October prod date. 2 weeks later after the stop sale closed got a call from my SA saying heyyy... bad news the car got damaged at the VPC, they can't sell you the car anymore because the damage is over 3% of the cars value... you gotta order another one aka this one which is currently on a boat in england.
