Review: Bimmertech Alpha 1 plug and play amp
So I FINALLY was able to finish installing Bimmertech’s plug and play Amp in my ‘22 X4 that came in with standard hifi and not HK. I personally thought the standard hifi was average at best and wanted something better. I have to say after installing the new amp, it’s a 100% improvement. The sound is now clear and crisp, exponentially louder and the bass is booming. It truly is like being in a concert hall now where as the original standard hifi sounded flat and weak. The amp comes pre-tuned for your vehicle right out of the box, but also can be further tweaked easily right at home. I highly recommend this upgrade if you are on the fence about it. Beyond easy to install, and the sound difference is night and day! I feel like the X4 is now complete!

Nothing but the amp. Talked with Bimmertech and they felt upgrading the amp alone would be a big enough improvement to start with and suggested I do that first before seeing if I still felt I needed to change out the speakers or subs. Honestly don’t think I will need to!

Just what I needed to hear -- er, read. Our X3 M40i can't be ordered with H/K, so seeking an aftermarket solution that's both effective and non-invasive. This fits the bill 100%!!

I was hoping a bit cheaper. I’m mostly sports talk radio. At $1k for the amp, I’m going to wait for car in March and see if I can deal with the base system.

Thanks for this. I think I'm going to do this too. How easy was the install? Can someone who is not A/V savvy handle this? Lol

Nicee man. How much louder is it at 100% volume ? Not only does it sound flat too me,I feel like at full volume it’s not nearly loud enough. Maybe I’m going deaf lol
I spoke to BT and they said it’s 30% louder. Which wasn’t promising to me |

I agree with you on the original sound being far too low. I literally had to turn it up so much just to feel even slightly satisfied and it still lacked. Once the Amp was in I had to turn EVERYTHING down! It has so much more volume and kick to it. Trust me, you wont be disappointed in that department.

I purchased a 2022 X3 with the HiFi system two weeks ago and installed the amp from BimmerTech three days ago. Very easy install. I am seriously impressed with the sound coming from the amplifier upgrade (for those of you wanting to know the cost please look at the Bimmertech site). It was an expensive purchase but well worth the cost in my opinion. I have had three BMWs over the past 20 years with the Harman Kardon upgrade, and have been generally happy with the sound. The BimmerTech amp upgrade (to me) sounds as good or better than what I heard in my cars with the Harmon Kardon equipped cars.
I purchased the Alpha One Speaker upgrade package as well. I am hoping to install the speakers this weekend and will provide an update when I do. |

Upgrading speakers in my old cars (before my BMW days) was always a pain and left me with door rattles, broken door clips, general unhappiness.
