Back Panel Above Trunk Rattling

So, just as this description says this part behind the backseats above the trunk is rattling at certain RPMs and also if I go over rough pavement. It’s driving me crazy. Does anyone else have this? What’s the fix. I suspect it’s easy.

Mine has the same issue, hasn't done it enough to annoy me like crazy yet. I'll take a look at some point and see what i can find.

I’m just grateful it was easy to find. With the car parked I climbed back there and started tapping things. When I tapped that panel I could make it do the same noise as when I’m driving. That panel has to be it right?

If you search for lowering spring install posts, you will find instructions on removing the panel. It is a bit of a pain. If it was removed for some reason and not reinstalled correctly, the rear tabs may be resting on top of receivers rather than securing the panel in the slots. If you have the rear sunshade, the 3 or 4 securing bolts in the trunk roof under it may be loose or missing.

Yep - check on the three 8mm screws underneath the tray from inside the trunk.

Be sure it isn't the third brake light up top.

I had a rattle from back there and it turned out to be inside the third brake light. wrap with some velcro tape and all good.

Same here.

I feel like a jackass because I only noticed it after having the H&R lowering springs installed - went back to my friends shop complaining of the sound. Initially sounded like it was coming from the springs/shocks. Was worried something went wrong during the install. Drove me crazy for two weeks wondering if I was safe driving the car. Took the car back in and they basically ripped everything apart to make sure nothing was installed wrong. Of course it was all fine. Still makes the sound. Sounds like something thumping around in the trunk.

Mine is more of a thump sound when hitting certain type of bumps that make the rear bounce a little.

I have suspension installed and now I have the same issue.

Anyone have an easy fix before I bring it back?

Mine is doing the same but it’s weird because after 20-30 min it goes away. Next time on cold start it happens again and is very loud and annoying but definitely coming from inside and definitely coming from somewhere behind the back seats.

I think my rattle is coming from my rear shade block mechanism. When I put the rear windshield shade block up with the button the rattle seems to go away then I put it back down and it comes back at a lower sound. Next day with it still down it’s a very loud rattle again repeat up and down and same thing

This is exactly what I am experiencing. Started after having the car lowered. Glad I found this thread though as I now have a couple ideas to check.

So I figured out the issue. Basically these are a handful of metal retainer clips that need to be expanded to fully grasp the piece and make contact with the trim piece. It wasn’t overly difficult but the seats had to come out along with most of the rear
