Leak Diagnostic Module.....Extended Warranty

My dad got a letter today from BMW. I have same model year but I did not get the letter, YET.

So what is this thing?

Got the same today. It’s not a recall so they won’t fix anything. Not a safety issue. But they are telling us it has a good chance of failing so they’ll warrant that part for 15 years or 100k not just the standard 5. Thanks so much!

I'm assuming it's not just the module itself, and includes (as it states) the hose and other assemblage, but who knows. No idea where it sits in the S63 or how easy it would be to change out, but I'm guessing not too hard…

I think if it fails, it simply throws a code, so shouldn't lead to anything catastrophic. Porsche did the same for a part in our Macan engines, just increasing the duration of the warranty, but only if it fails, since it doesn't result in any real damage
