I'll try to describe the situation to the best of my ability but I am a novice at this.

Mods:
Er primary downpipes
State 2 evolve tune (not working right now)

Just trying to see if anybody here has any knowledge as to what I could do to fix it.

So a few weeks back I took my car in to get service. I guess they updated my ecu then and didn't let me know. Only told me about the rear camera recall and oil change.

Immediately after I picked up my car a check engine light came on and it was downpipe related. So I went over to my buddy's shop to reflash the car with the file evolve had sent me.

It had pretty much bricked because of the updated ecu. Evolve had one of their coders try to recover the ecu but seemed like things were only getting worse (car completely went blank for The entire day). After a few days of working on the car Alex from Alpine was able to recover the ecu and get it back to stock and the car finally turned on.

Ecu 2 still doesn't not read out when trying to make a new file to send to evolve for a new flash.

Ecu 1 works but ecu 2 crashes a couple seconds into the read.

Any idea why?

used both femto (what evolve uses)
and my genius to try and read it out but both crashed

Ask Mateen or Utku at evolve to skype with you and get the integration level from dealer that you have now since they updated your rear camera recall and updated ecu. I had same service done and luckily my ecu integration level remained the same so I was able to reload the tune. I had put to stock prior to bringing in as tech Manager advises I do just in case.
Utku is the tech guy there and he can ghost your laptop with "anydesk" . I had him run datalogs on my car while I drove around at 4am my time since they are in England but he was able to confirm everything was good while he ran thru files and we Skyped simultaneously
Email Mateen I'd bet they can run it thru hopefully

If your integration level didn't change they might be able to use same files.

I'll see what the dealer says tomorrow. Already whatsapped utku and emailed mateen. So just waiting for them to wake up.

It's weird that the ecu doesn't read at all yet car drives fine. Just can't get the stock file from it.

Ask your SA to find out the integration level and number. I don't understand it not reading either,
If you were saying you couldn't load the tune I'd say BMW's update blocked current tune from being compatible but ecu isn't letting program read it which leads me to think it's the program (that evolve uses)perhaps that needs to now be updated?
Reading ecu should be the easy part,

Lol but by the time the dealer gets back to you evolve will be closed tomorrow( depending what time zone your in). That was my only issue was the times I had to wake up in the middle of the night to connect with them

That old version of Femto is also not going to read the newer software.
I have used v1.61 on a few cars from 2018-2019 cars with updated software (etc) and all worked fine even 2020 M850

Have your Tuner get you the latest version of Femto which is now v1.7 and also those MyGenius device brick more cars than their success rate due to software version incompatibility.

Yeah looks like you have V1.5
Mine is 3 months old and it's v1.60 so ask them to send you updated Femto!
Nice catch, I didn't even think about looking at what version he had.

It reads ecu 1. I'm on 1.6. Mateen mentioned if the ecu 1 reads with the software. Ecu 2 should too.

It's just ecu 2 that has the problem. It blanked out for a couple days then Alex was finally able to restore it to stock. But now it just doesn't read.

He said try to bench read it. So I will do that on Monday when I have the time.

They did send me 1.6 when we tried doing the flash when the car bricked originally. So Alex from Alpine had to spend some time recovering ecu 2 because it was essentially blank. Ecu 2 was recovered and the car started working again. was told to give it a few drive cycles and 2 weeks later went in to read it again and still the same issue.

I had the exact same sutuation with femto. Ecu2 was blank. PM me if you need solution.

car still doesn't read through the OBD2 port. always crashes when trying to read secondary ecu.

we did a bench read thinking evolve could just tune it through that way but they are saying the file ie encrypted.

need help bad

Haven't solved my issue yet unfortunately. Ecu reads fine through bench read but not through obd2
