Two M5C Deals - One Pre-Owned Purchase / One New Lease

I am thinking about coming back to BMW (currently have a 911 C4S) and have been able to work the following two deals

1) 2019 M5C / 11k miles, $125K build (drivers assistance +, executive, full leather, Bowers stereo). Negotiated down to $91K. Good shape overall with some minor scratches, rock chips which should be expected from a 1 year old car (warranty punched last Oct)

2) 2019 M5C / New Lease / $123K build (executive, full leather, driver assistance +). Lease terms: $1,300/month, 10K mileage, 3 years, $1K down.

I have noticed these things depreciate like a lead weight and I typically keep my cars 2 years (3 tops if I am leasing).

Thoughts on the better deal?

I would negotiate aggressively on the lease and go that route.

Not a fan of buying these cars used as you just never know.

Lease perfectly hedges your cost of ownership and removes the depreciation uncertainty out of the equation.

My .02

Best of luck!

123k new lease $1,300/month is an amazing deal. Care to share what the adjusted cap cost was and how you negotiated that low of a deal?

Cap cost was ~$106K ($4,500 in rebates, and $12.5K discount, .00128 money factor)

Lease for sure. Not sure what the sales tax situation is in TX, but in CA it would save you about $5K in taxes to lease vs buy. If you flip cars every 2 to 3 years there is no better option. Add in the fact that BMW leases are transferable and 2 years from now everyone will be back to paying $1700/mo for a lease and it makes it very easy to get out of them.

That lease isn’t bad at 123k MSRP. Try to get it to 1% of MSRP per month and $0 down.

lease it .. when buying a car you have to play the cards that the company gives you.
BMW is a leasing company, so you lease their cars unless you keep them for 8 + years then it does not matter
if the used one had like 1 k mile and it is for 88 k , then you can give it a thought

Yep - makes sense. I went the leasing route and (I think) got a great deal

Congrats man... I think in the two scenarios you presented, the lease was the far prettier option...
