Any risk in telling dealership not to flash the car?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Going to code it again, so not a huge deal. Is there any risk in telling the dealership to not update firmware, etc? I guess that's basically telling them you have altered things. |

Not necessarily. I always tell them not to plug in without my consent, update anything, or wash the car at all. Never had any issues. I usually get my SA a gift around the holidays or after he goes above and beyond to help. That might be one reason, but mostly I think they just think I'm super anal about my car..... which I am.

I kinda think we (F90 owners in general) are all a bit anal and accept nothing less than perfection... Perhaps that’s probably why we, in general, are successful. Just my guess and .02 cents. |

it may be a simple as there being a recommended update due for the car so they simply did that at the same time as the service. And obviously if they upgrade the firmware (new istep level) that will wipe out any coding that has been done.
I think in general they will not update the istep software level unless you have reported an issue and its required in order to fix that issue , or BMW recommends an update as they have found an issue with earlier software which the latest addresses. I had my non M5 car flashed a year back and it takes about 2 hours to do so they are not going to do this unnecessarily. they won't just do as there is a later level available . |
