Radar mirror tap no longer power down

Installed uniden R7 with mirror tap and blend mount about 4-6 months ago. Directions on forum were very helpful. Didn't have any problems at all. Noticed today though that the unit isn't powering down after locking door and walking away. It for sure use to do this before after install and for several months. Have not taken down any of the wiring since. I did go in for winter tire swap and they upgraded the software I believe because all my settings were reset. Any thoughts? Any one else having similar issue all the sudden? Thanks!!

That is really weird!

An easy fix would be turning on the BAT Saver feature on the R7.

-BAT Saver-
If your R7 is plugged into a power source that is always on, turn this feature on. This way when you’re parked (stationary) or you’re in a parking garage (so you lose GPS), the detector will shut itself off after 1 hour so you don’t kill your car battery.

I had glossed over the BAT saver function. Thanks for the reminder.

I have not checked in a while, but from what I recall, mine didn't power off as soon as I locked the car. I remember coming back to check on it some time later and it had turned off.

Yes I have the battery saver option turned on so it's not like my battery ever dies. I just know it turned off much quicker before and not sure what changed really. Thanks for the tip though. The battery saver function is quite nice on the R7.

This is correct. It takes 5 to 7 minutes for all the electronics to go to sleep after turning the car off and exiting the vehicle.

That is really odd.....I don't even see how a software update could even change a wire to being on all the time.

Are you sure comfort access or something isn't starting it up and you just didn't realize it?

EDIT: Like AGS said, it does take 5 to 7 minutes to power down.....so not sure if you mean it is still on 45 minutes later....or if it's just on 5 minutes later and you hadn't realized before that it stays on for the 5-7.

Mine would power off over time either with BAT or power down. Never bothered to check as it's always off when i jumped in. If never shut down for me when I leave the car.

I let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes and it was still on. Ended up just unplugging it instead. Odd. Thanks for all the input out there.
