Possible although not probable; something damaged under warranty would have to be tied back to the dps as the root of the problem in order to void the warranty.

TBH, always mod at your own risk knowing anything is a possibility with BMW these days. This is the safest approach; if you never want to deal w/ warranty issues leave everything OEM.

I've modded every M5 I've ever owned (5) and my current 19' M5 will not be different but I completely understand the price to play the mod game.

Yeah I can understand for things like if you have a bad turbo and they found downpipes they would not replace your turbo.

Let's say if you have downpipes and then have a misfire/bad injector. Does it void just drivetrain warranties? Never understood how it worked

It depends heavily on your relationship with your service department/ advisor.

Mine is a complete gear-head, he rides bikes and has multiple cars.

RC , or any other piggy for that matter, can void your warranty as well.
Any aftermarket parts can potentially void the warranty. RC is very reliable and safe, not saying DME or any other is not, they are pushing it more aggressive.
It also depending how hard you are pushing your car.
I am not letting warranty stopping me from enjoying mine life
Very few people on this forum are leaving cars stock, this forum would exist then

It would be so much better without the colored grille. Am I the only one who thinks those are incredibly tacky???

Other than that, it looks amazing

Well said.

Mod at your own risk. You have to pay to play!

It's takes a rare vision to move an M5 to a totally different category - visually and performance wise. Enjoyed reading every reply in this thread.

You have the vision!

Speaking of the front splitter, how is it in daily driving situations?

Thank you for kind words!

The car is just completely different from stock, so much more enjoyable to drive

It's unreal how capable this car is, it can be nice and comfortable and by pressing a button it turns into totally different animal

There is plenty clearance on front 4.5" just need to be carful approaching steep driveway and speed bumps.

More to come soon

Also doing some custom interior parts

Downpipes essentially allow exhaust gases to exit the turbos more efficiently by eliminating the cats or utilizing cats that flow better than OEM basically reducing back pressure. With that said, it would be tough to tie back downpipes to a Turbo that's gone bad or a misfire / bad injector as the downpipes are more than likely not the culprit.

An SA that's not mod-friendly may take a different posture and therein lies the problem as this is a relatively gray area.

The majority of issues I've seen have involved blown engines on tuned cars where BMW has denied warranty and the owner has had to foot the bill for a new / rebuilt engine; tunes change factory parameters to create more power and this data is recorded on the DME's so BMW can easily see these changes should an issue present itself. I ran piggy's on both of my F10 M5's w/ no issues but saw firsthand many a blown engine on tuned F10 M5's.

I've also seen a couple of issues with intakes as they change the profile of what can enter the vehicle. If the intakes due a poor job of filtering what can get into the engine this can lead to issues as well.

Generally speaking, downpipes by themselves are relatively safe IMO and will simply create a CEL that will be there permanently.

As mentioned in my previous post, the only 100% safe option is to leave the car as-is.

I love seeing people modify cars. It's amazing what the "aftermarket" crowd can accomplish with cars. Especially cars which already have forced induction. I wound what the over head is on the transmission for more torque? I know the older M5 transmissions (by gone days of 5 speed manuals) were built to handle 1000 hp......and the car had about 400 at the time. LOL. And it's all brands to. Those WRX's are very powerful with a little modification! My car is now heavily modified. LMAO.

Thanks,
I am sure Bmw builds the transmission/drive shafts at least 40% stronger to make sure for those hard launches won't cause problem.

What changes have you done to your car?
