NYC streets and highways eat tires. i see people with M5s in the garages where i park. cant believe they are happy. i can go anywhere without worrying about whether i will pop one of these stupid performance tires with no spare.

good luck trying to get anywhere in a snowstorm. more like the ultimate idiot's vehicle.

Ahh so you have a very specific use case that doesn’t apply to me and most other people.

I’ve only ever driven an X5M on a track as part of a BMW event, never on the roads. However apart from an F8x GTS/CS spec car I’ve driven every M car after the E39. I haven’t driven an X5M on the road because I don’t want to and only did at the event because we had to rotate through the cars! Every other M car I’ve driven because I wanted to

Ok, I see your point. Lucky I don't live in New York

I needed to do something about it so I took the whole exhaust out and down pipes and replaced it with Eisenmann

If they perform the same, I'll buy the Merc for sound. AMG is the king for this stuff.

I'll drive my M5 up to you this winter mid-snow storm..let's see how much further you get than me..you'll get further for sure... but how much... ?

Then you come down to me in the summer and we will do a track day.. see how more laps/how much faster my lap are than yours.

Then we can come to conclusion that these are two different vehicles for two different situations.

I've done over 11k Miles in mine in 4 months... several times since fall in NYC (family there)... NEVER once have I had a single issue.

I welcome many, many snowfalls this year.

There is no point. The car is perfectly at home in NYC.

Both are gorgeous and incredibly fast cars. I'd give a kidney or one of my 🥜 for either of them!

I would personally sway a tad more on the side of the BMW M5C for reasons completely outside of this article, the infotainment. BMW's tends to be so much more intuitive.
Yep... you don't choose one or the other with these two monsters based on performance... driver/conditions can make any race go either way they are so close.

Subjective stuff like interior design, infotainment, suspension feel, looks, etc end up being the real tie breakers.

E63s is great in snow as well. We live in MN and it's a great winter car

I've been considering an M5 with a good set of winter tires! I'm sure it would be fun and safe..... But my idea of snow is 2 inches on the road.

The E63S Estate though. Wow.

I've done the M5 on a drag strip before and it didn't really that fast. Anyone else?

Not good enough...

To come back to the video and M5C versus E63S:
The BMW has a 4.4 Liter engine and the MB a 4.0. This is 10 percent more and should give the BMW a clear advantage. Of course one needs to take other factors into consideration ie gearing etc...
But the bottom line is that BMW stuck with the same engine as the F10 albeit improved but this is not good enough: it should have much more HP considering the above... a touch disappointing to me.

And Benz came out with their 4.0L biturbo V8 in 2014 and use a variant of it in every V8 model from the C-class on up. So what? Is theirs not good enough either since it's not bespoke to the E63 S?

But why!!! Why don’t they use launch control in the bmw!!! I don’t understand!! It’s not even in launch control mode! How do they race like that? Only one car is using launch control and it’s not the m5

He just slightly held the brake and put a little throttle against it. I’ve tested that with Dragy. Part throttle launch like that slows the F90 2 to 3 tenths vs LC. A flat foot Launch slows the F90 4 tenths vs LC.

So why doesn’t he put it in S3 and use launch control? It still does the shifting for you.. I don’t understand why he left it in D?!?

He wants the controversy.

That creates YouTube clicks.

That creates $$$$

News Media does the same thing. Truth is boring. Boring doesn’t make $$$$$$

Still, the car went 11.1 on a normal surface airfield, not a drag strip. Pretty nice IMO. I’d be surprised if he would have hit 10.7-8 based on your comments...
