Exhaust Help

I just purchased a new 2019 M5 and I absolutely love the car, EXCEPT the exhaust. My previous car was a 2018 C63s AMG and it sounded nice. I have listened to every youtube clip and read every thread on here about exhaust options. I am probably more confused than when I started. One of the issues in deciding is that a few companies like AWE and Dinan released their products later than Remus, Eisenmann etc.. Obviously the earlier release products have a ton of member support so that gets confusing as the new products could in theory sound as good but not a lot of member feedback.

What I am looking for is a nice increase in deep tone similar to my AMG. The other thing I liked about my AMG was that I could get a nice exhaust sound in the lower RPM's 2000-4000. I do not want to always be at WOT to make the car sound good.

If I was to purchase today I would say I am leaning towards the AWE SwitchPath Catback. Anyone heard this in person compared to a Remus, Dinan etc.?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

Mellow

I am with you on a nice mellow tone similar to the Merc's. I initially thought, coming from the F10 platform, that I was going to have to do the cat back design to get a nice sound out of my car. I started the Evolution Racewerke's catted upper DP's for the sound and the power increase. The sound in Sport mode was transformed to a slightly throaty sound that is suitable for general driving modes. But, in Sport Plus, it comes alive and is very similar to the CP exhaust but better. I then delete the OEM X pipe resonator and went with a Magnaflow X pipe. For my tastes, the sound is perfect because it has the very distinct pops and burbles that I like in Sport Plus and you don't need a high rev to hear it in that mode.

Thank you for the information! I read somewhere that a midpipe will help with sound and not produce CEL? I was considering doing a midpipe and the Magnaflow X Pipe upgrade versus a whole exhaust. If that works better I am all for it as the cost would be less.

iPE - perfect sound and reasonably priced. I have the catback and love it.

Every M car I owned I had Eisenmann or Akrapovic. There are many others that are good too like IPE/Remus etc.

It's personal preference but the best is to hear it in person for individual test....and I know this is almost impossible unless you know some members that are leaving close to you.

I would to car back 1st and work the way to front. Ones you remove resonators it will start to drone a bit. Just a heads up

i'll likely do x-pipe and see how that goes since i already have 3.75" BMS tips installed so from outside it looks like aftermarket exhaust just doesnt sound like one.

I need to find some locals with aftermarket exhausts so i can hear them in person, sound clips online do no justice.. id be curious to hear Remus, significant savings over Akra..

Same deal as me. Exhaust is so subjective on what sounds good to each other. I wish I could hear a bunch of cars in person and I would know instantly what works for me. I would just like my car to sound better in that 1000-2500 range when I am cruising around town. Enough to let the person next to me know that the car means business without being obnoxious. I had that with my AMG...but I love my M5!

If you want party on demand, and refinement in the neighborhood, go with Remus (what I have and my favorite)

If you want party all the time, go Eisenmann Race

We did lower downpipes (mid pipe/secondary cat delete) on the comp exhaust. Sounds SWEEEEET

Perfect amount of sound for those who just want a little more pops and cabin sound.

Doesn't quite break the bank and also gives a little bit more torque

Here's a comp exhaust full catless

Versus

Keller Lower + Stock Exhaust (non comp)

Hi, VT.

Going with the SwitchPath™ CBE would certainly deliver the smooth rumble that you're seeking lower in the rev range.

We also offer performance mid pipes as standalone, bolt-on configurations as well if you'd like to take it "stage by stage," so to speak.

PM me with any questions, I'm here

Direct bolt-on to the factory catback system.

NO CEL

The lower replace the secondaries, primary still intact
