I have the BW in my F90 and BOSE in my 991.2. I can definitely make a difference in favor of the BW. The sound is just crisp, regardless of how high I turn the volume up. In the Porsche there is some distortion at high volume.

It's OK. It has good tonal balance in the midrange and top end. The midbass and sub bass are lacking.
Stereo imaging is awful, unless you sit in the center of the back seat and lean forward with your head between the front seats. |

I think it’s excellent.
But if money is an issue, you could live without it. |

I've had an F90 with B&W and have a F90 with HK.
Having had both I can confidently say moving forward the next time I spec a BMW ticking B&W will not be a priority. |

I have a 2019 M5 with the Bowers and a 2019 M2 with the stock Harmon Kardon. Since I drive both cars almost every day I can tell you pay the money and get the Bowers, it is a much better sound experience.

I think it depends on the type of music you listen to.
Personally I found the HK to have better bottom end at higher volumes. I'm a musician and deaf. -Joe |

One more for the “worth it” column. I can directly compare the B&W and the HK in two different BMWs we own, and the difference really is clarity. I would not hesitate to check the box again.

Even if you got it for the looks only, it's worth it. Interior looks much better with B&W especially at night. And it does sound really good IMO. I prefer it to the HK in my M550

Agreed. The lights at night might be too much for some, but a) you can turn them off if you want, and b) I like them!

Yup worth the money IMO. Very crisp but as someone pointed out lacking with real significant base. Other than that, it looks great and I am very happy and made the mistake on a previous BMW not specking the upgraded stereo. If you have the cash, go for it as its not really something you want to retro fit!
