I spoke with the sales manager at the BMW dealership im working with and he confirmed that things are moving forward with a software update. He did however clarify that things are being done "different" at the port than it is at the dealerships. Specifically he said they have to download the software from Germany (umm I hope you're not on dial-up 🤣&#128514 hook the car up to a battery tender (charger/conditioner?) and let the software install. Assuming it actually installs on a first time pass is unknown, but I'll be optimistic and say it's quicker than reinstalling Windows 😅. Anyway, cheers everyone, we can finally get on with our lives LOL, and thank you to everyone who put up with our whining.

I'm anticipating a pick up date of likely after TG. Even if I have it shipped... if I attempted to pick it up, it would have to be ready by the 24th, else my wife will have changed the locks if I skipped her plans on the 25th and 26th 😩.

As promised by the SM, programming for recall was done today and I just took delivery about an hour ago.

As all have said, vehicle is awesome... just learning my way around her.

I'm Thankful to have her!!

Ha ha. Well, about the same. I couldn’t drive it much before I had my PPF done, and now I have had an issue with my spoiler, and I’ll have to get that reinstalled. Of course this week, I’m away from it for Thanksgiving for a week, and I am missing it! I’m looking forward to really getting to drive it some. Next stop, break-in service!

What are your thoughts, so far?

Argh I typed up a whole reply and my browser crashed, lol.

Basically what I said was I love it! it feels way lighter than I know it is, and possibly out handles my old F80. I think the double wishbones up front are what do it (vs. struts). The turn in is just so good and the load-up on the front and then the rear is predictable and stays that way through entry-mid corner-exit.

Oh yeah, the engine is nice too, hehe but I’m taking it easy during break in.

Also, I found my preferred (for now) M1 and M2 settings are a bit unexpected.
M1 = sport plus engine ; comfort suspension ; comfort steering ; D2 on trans ; regular 4WD
M2 = sport plus engine ; sport suspension ; comfort steering ; D3 trans ; MDM + sport 4WD

I found sport plus suspension to be too much rebound for street surfaces and so not enough traction mid corner and exit.

CEL, with modest loss of power.
Exhaust is def louder now that is permanently fixed.
The older recall was for the fuel PUMP. This stop-sale order is for the fuel tank VENTILATION.

So no, unfortunately BMW does not yet have a fix for this new issue.

So if I bought my 2020 M5 a few months ago, will I have an issue?

+1. You will indeed have a recall campaign on your VIN, if it hasn’t shown up already.

Since it appears to not be considered a risk to your safety, I imagine BMW will address the existing customer cars as they come in for service or warranty repairs.

I absolutely love this car. I’ve only owned three “sportier” cars so far—a 2010 Audi S5, 2013 e92 M3, and a 2015 GTR—and I believe that this car is a glorious combination of them all, and then adds luxurious touches on top!

So everyone just has to wait until they get a check engine light

Negative. All cars affected will be serviced the next time they are brought in for service or repair. And I imagine at, some point in the future the remaining cars will receive a mandatory recall notice.

Weird, I just had my 1,200 mile service and nobody said anything. I'll call Bmw.
