If all you care about is power, then you may or may not have missed the point of the CS model.
I'm well aware of the CS lineup. While it is more than a power upgrade, it should have a decent power upgrade to complement the other refinements and set itself apart from the Competition model.
Instead of turning up the power, it would be nice if the car went on a more substantial diet, but that's not possible without creating a really bespoke car and hiking the price into stratospheric levels.

And I bet the CS will command a big premium the way it is already planned for production.

Agree - a diet would help. Or if not that, maybe the carbon core tech from the 8 series to further stiffen the body for the track.

I'd be disappointed if this is just carbon fiber dressing.

Let's wait and see the press on the car. So far I am not impressed, but I really want to see how BMW pulls this off.

I wish I had any idea of what they are gonna do. Honestly, I hadn't done much research when I got my M3CS. I just wanted out of my X5 lease and the CS had been sitting on the lot for about 5 months. Was too good of a deal to pass up.

For the M5CS I am really hoping that they some how figure out a way to improve engine/oil cooling. I did the Advanced M School at Thermal last November and couldn't do more than 2 laps on the big track without the M5 going into limp mode. Was really disappointing.

I would guess that the M5CS would have a marginal power increase (M3CS was only 10hp more than the M3 Comp).

Some weight reduction and slight aero would be cool, but again, it's just to hard to guess.
We ran the M5 (not comps) at that Advanced M. I've driven the M5 Comp at Sonoma recently and it didn't have the same issues on track

As for the specs, its kinda disappointing to see. Single digit hp gain and some CF bits just sound like a let down.

I've got the #1 allocation spot at my local dealership and based on this, I'm hesitant that I'll move forward with the car. But, I'll wait to see what it looks like I guess.
Similar to myself. I sold my M5C in August to wait for this car, doesnt sound like its worth it now ?, that 992 Turbo S looks more appealing now.

Whats the point of comparing a 5 series of any flavor to a 992? Two different worlds

Well, they are both twin turbo 4wd, and designed for great performance. The fact the M5 can seat 4 and keep up somewhat is impressive. Obviously the Porsche is all about handling too, and the M5 cant compete here.

OP is right based on Sport Auto's lap time, no ring times yet but the Hockenheim lap isn't much better than M5 CP and slower than the AMG. Yes the AMG has cup tire but the CS I think we all have envisioned should beat the AMG regardless what tire it has.

WAS looking forward to this car. With the aforementioned information this car makes zero sense. 8 more hp, same fp and a little less weight none of which will make any difference than what I have 21m5 comp. Could care less about any track numbers. This is not and will never be a real track car. Not sure why it’s even talked about. A 4000 pound 4dr sedan lol.

Anyway, very disappointed with what I’m hearing, but I do love my new one.

Just had a mail from my dealer, stating the M5CS "will be the fastest BMW ever made", [probably production model] and will be 70kgs lighter than the Competition model.

Would love to see this.

The 150 pounds isn’t going to make a difference. If the HP number is correct 8 more HP isn’t going to make a difference so we’ll have to wait and see what your dealer means by the fastest.

Old news. This car is gonna be a waste of money and RnD.

I suspect the main purpose for this car is marketing. To own the Nordschleife record for production sedans. I wonder if BMW ran into an unexpected obstacle to guarantee this goal when the 2021 Panny recorded a 7:29 and that this has caused some delays?

It will be the fastest when released just like the original F90. Newer cars will naturally best that, like the G60 M5, M8 CS etc.

Ya that's the problem when there are multiple threads on the same topic.
