MPE vs. Remus

Hello,

I am about to place the order for 2021 LCI M5, I am leasing the car, the advantage of MPE is obviously i can roll it into payments and tax write off. However, I have seen people say Remus has the best sound.

For those of you who have heard both in person, what are the differences in terms of the characteristic of the sound? Which one do you prefer and why?

I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud, but I do want deeper and a little louder than stock competition exhausts.

Any input will be very helpful, thanks in advance!!

I agree that the REMUS sounds better, it's got a deeper and cleaner sound in my opinion. Its the perfectly balanced exhaust, aggressive without being obnoxious with no drone

Bias 2.0 here but when you add in price and sound duality (Remus is deep down low and more exotic up top)- its a fairly easy choice unless the MPE is already on the car and can be residualized (as stated).

Will order with it, $7600 with invoice around $6500, probably pay around $3500 for depreciation on the lease, tax write off-able.

Remus, around 3800-4000, can be sold when lease return for around 2800-3000.

Remus sounds like a better choice except the tax write off part =/.

In terms of sound, does any of you heard both in person? What are the differences?

Mike, whats the difference between cat-back and just axle back in terms of sound? I go workout at 5:30am everyday, don't want to mess my neighbors up

Catback has a deeper tone and is louder especially on high RPM. If your downpipes are stock, the exhaust is not loud on low RPM.

Like Vic said the Remus has a dual personality. Low on idle and raspy up top with pops on shifts in Sport Plus just amazing. Bias towards the carbon fiber tips as well. Worth every penny. Was not impressed at all with the MPE I heard in person last week.

I've heard both.
Remus would be my choice.
Not biased feedback even though I am a Remus reseller.
It is deeper, while MPE is just louder than stock Comp.

Based on what I understand on your loudness concern, I do suggest just axle back.
And when your neighbor feel comfortable with the rumble, then get the mid-pipe.

Another vote for Remus. Cold start is loud and since I keep the M5 in my garage, I just keep the garage door closed until the cold start process is finished. I drive through my neighborhood in efficient mode. Once cleared of the neighborhood, I place the M5 in sport+.

Basically the reason I went Remus. Great dual personality. And a great tone.

Can't wait to install mine!

I offer both exhausts but I'm biased to REMUS. I was invited to the REMUS factory in Austria when they were working on this system. I was completely blown away by their R&D to production process.

Remus for sure.. Sounds great! I have a used one for sale that's near perfect condition and never driven in the rain. Has only 5-7k miles on it. It's at Auto Talent near L.A.

How about comparison between Eisenmann race or Remus with catless downpipes? I have always had Eisenmann on prior generation M5s so a little biased that direction. Might try Remus for something different. Valves aren’t a big selling point for me either. Car won’t be a daily so want it loud.

Eisenmann Race, full cat-back with catless downpipe will be the winner, since you are pretty much going to be straight through.

I don't think eisenmann is straight through. It does have an X pipe. Remus, Supersprint and Capristo are the only ones which have a straight through mid pipe.

Remus and AWE (track) are the only ones which have no balance tube or connection even by mufflers in the back between both pipes. They are true duals with no interference between exhaust banks. I may be wrong but that's what I found out. Thanks

Trust me... get the valves or you wont be able to ever drive without gun shots. And the gun shots are everytime you slow down and downshift and it's much louder than you think. Even with valves closed the car is still pretty loud but it eliminates the gun shots for when there is a cop around or a quiet neighborhood. I wouldn't get it without it.. not a chance and I like loud cars! But, it's not burble.. It's straight gun shots..haha

Sorry, I meant straight through by there is is not resonator or canister intercepting the gas. Just a simple pipe.

I totally agree. Initially with my Remus I used to keep em open but now I feel bad when I'm in neighborhood so valves are a must
