2019 BMW M5 Competition sounds ridiculous with a full Akrapovic Exhaust
This one was sent to me by the guy who had the exhaust installed. This thing sounds insane!
I've never had the previlege to properly experience this one but I've heard the Fi Exhaust for the car. It's also incredibly good. This car also has a tune and intakes so maybe it's one reason why it sounds so good. |

I prefer to be more stealth in my M5, just saying.

I personally don't understand the fascination with the machine gun sounds. What happen to just a good sounding growling exhaust?
Kind of embarrassing really. Make people think your car is broken lol. Don't get me wrong. I bought an M and don't want a sleeper. That's what a m550i is for. But cmon. My 2014 X5 50i has an equal if not better growl than my M5.

I do like the pops and bangs when I'm in the mood though.

I also don't understand the need to mod the standard exhaust or msport one.
Sounds just beefy and aggressive enough in s/s+ on the outside and inside. Yet nice and refined in efficient for long distances, and can open/close the flaps at the press of a button. I personally bought an F90C for the stealthyness, else I would have looked at an E63s But each to their own! |

That's because M V8 uses cross bank manifolds. Changes the typical V8 sound.

I can’t imagine anyone actually thinking that sounds good. It’s just loud pops and bangs. A Ferrari V12, Lamborghini V10 (and V12), Porsche GT3 flat 6, RB26 and 2JZ in-line 6 engines, etc all have great sounding exhausts. Pops and bangs do not sound good.

I have the Remus cat back installed on my M5 (F90) for some time now and I do not like the pop and bangs when in sport+. It was cute at first and now when I am in sport+ I deactivate the exhaust button on the center console to eliminate the pop and bangs / gunshot noise. I concur with others that it is embarrassing when people look at me when the pop and bangs occur when I decelerate. I kept my stock exhaust and I am thinking about going back to the stock setup.
I remember owning a Harley Davidson (HD) motorcycle back in 2003. I installed the HD Screaming Eagle II slip on exhaust and Screaming Eagle high flow air intake and filter. With those two parts combined the bike needed a remap to eliminate the pop and bangs. Once the mapping was complete the pops and bangs were gone. Having owned numerous Corvettes over the past 25 years, I have installed aftermarket exhaust systems on them. I miss my 2012 Corvette Z06 / Z07 it had the perfect tone without the pop and bangs with the after market exhaust setup. Last edited by Egrunt; 10-10-2020 at 10:26 AM.. |

Whats going on here? LOL I know a properly tuned F90M5 with an Akra set up shouldn't sound like this. Im with others I hate the machine gun backfire.

Valves closed or flash out the overrun to eliminate the bangs and pops. Don't recommend the flash for obvious reasons .. would be nice for BMW to offer a file to remove this under warranty .. not holding my breath.
