I was being very polite in my opinion of Talisker. Even a full bold cigar couldn't suppress the horrible aftertaste.

Give it a couple years...like 5-10 years or so...you might be surprised. I say this because I think you have only recently started out in the Scotch world haven't you?

I know when I started, I spent probably close to 7 or 8 years enjoying the Speyside region particularly in terms of Scotch, but also some Highlands / Lowlands as well, and absolutely couldn't stand Islay scotches. They were terrible to me.

But then a bottle of Ardbeg was presented to me as a gift one year and I suffered my way through that bottle, because I'm cheap and wasn't going to throw it out or gift it away. And lo and behold, I started to appreciate the peaty and briny scotches afterwards. It hasn't changed my love of Speyside, but I do appreciate having the sharp disparity between the two in my cabinet so that depending on what I feel like, I'm changing up my game on a regular basis.

I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes you...it will take years and then suffering through a bottle or two.

But I don't want to 'suffer' my money away, lol.

Seriously though, you are not the first person to say that. Time will tell.

Well, as I mentioned, I was gifted a bottle by a friend so I didn't have to suffer my own money away....but as it pertains to you, I suppose what you are insinuating is that you have no friends, and therefore, you have no reasonable expectation to ever receive such a bottle for free...yes?

Ok, I'll stop now. I was hoping for a good roasting of my own. Figured you guys still had the ovens going from your turkey day, but maybe not. Which, I'll point out again, Canada beat you to it by over a month. We're number 1 in something - yeah baby!

I'll give him my bottle of Talisker. I don't need any more friends anyway and that stuff is so bad I doubt he'll ever want to befriend me.

FWIW, I think that the Talisker Storm is noticeably inferior to their 10yo, and the 10 not as good as the 18. I was disappointed by the Storm, as it sounded interesting and I had high hopes. Given the comments (disliking peat), better to stick with Speyside/Highland.

Actually, you and Lups might be surprised to learn that we're actually fairly discerning when it comes to what we decide to put into a bag.

Milk for example. Not only does it reduce waste in that there is no large carton to dispose of, but we are sympathetic to the various number of virgins living in their mother's basement who will never get to play with an actual fun bag. So we put milk in the bag to provide an alternative to them, very far from feeling like the real thing, but they'll never know. See? Discerning.

So of course our turkey dinners come in a bag. But it is a takeout bag. Bags are good.

I know...it is so tempting. But that is Alberta (different province) and if I try to import from that province into mine, my little liquor board of Ontario slaps all sorts of taxes and levies on it, to bring it up to their price. Which is $100. I farcking hate them.

But I appreciate the link. No one is allowed to sell liquor or wine in Ontario unless it is sold through the LCBO or at LCBO approved locations and has to be at the same price as in the LCBO.

I like that better.
If only had a Boekenhoutskloof Syrah with it. 2015 of course.
Cab is not mine.
