ESS 535, 575 and cold weather

Hi Guys,

So I've been reading many posts about the ESS 535 and 575 kits. Seems like the major difference is the "liquid intercooler". I live in a climate where it can be +35C (95F) and -25C (-13F). Humidity is also a factor as we can get 85% - 100% humidity during summer.

My questions is this: How does the 575 kit work in cold climates. Does having an intercooler cause any problems with these cold temps? Has ESS done any testing in cold climates?

Also, the 535 was extensively tested in AZ ... which has relatively dry heat ... hot as hell, but dry. Has ESS tested the kits in high humidity situations?

For anyone living in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) if they have those kits any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have an ESS VT-1 535 kit on my e92 M3. Living in Iowa, we have summers at least as extreme as Toronto related to temperature and humidity. I have never had an engine overheating issue.

I did once have a DTC overheating warning light come on when I was forced to idle for nearly an hour while a bad accident was being cleared on the freeway. That day was nearly 100 degrees and 95% humidity. Once traffic started moving again, the warning light eventually went away. I don't suspect the supercharger contributed to this issue.

I don't think you were concerned about extreme cold for this kit (more related to the inter-cooled 575 kit), but I only drive my M3 in the summer months, so I can't comment on that aspect of this kit.

I hope this helps!

There are a few ESS VT2 cars driving around your neck of the woods.

Both cars are from Toronto.
