And you, what do you know about frozen paint ?

I had my Frozen Arctic Grey M5 partially resprayed after a small accident back in 2020 and the paint matches 100%.
My dealer did an amazing job and nailed it.
Post high quality images or it didn't happen.

I agree they did an amazing job. Would need to see closeups of the front and in person to really see, but from the photo the rear bumper looks resprayed.

Both doors, it's obvious! *sarcasm*

But while you may have gotten lucky, or perhaps that color doesn't show differences quite as bad, I've seen even regular paint jobs that didn't match, so it depends on whose doing it honestly more than anything.

It of course depends on who does the job…

The body tech at my dealer told me that it wasn’t an easy task for resprayed elements to match, but definitely not impossible.
For this job, he had someone from BMW come by and give his instructions - and I’m 100% satisfied with the job done!

Yeah, i actually paint for a living. What do you know except what you read about on the forums and insinuate? No wonder forums are dying. Too much misinformation by unqualified keyboard professionals.

What sense does reshooting the entire car make?

This is how i know you know nothing about this.

Most every car's bumper has different shades. They all differ slightly..

Unless you get into the higher marques, which are hand painted (together) then you wont have that issue.

But hey, paint over the entire car so it can match the hood. Makes sense.

You paint cars for living and you don't know about the difficulties of matching frozen paints? Then I have nothing further to say on this topic.

I didn't say it was easy. It can be done. WITHOUT painting the entire car. Repainting the entire vehicle is NOT the answer.

I'm sorry but this is not true. I personally know the master painter for BMW and they do not respray a car based off of one panel.

If you have the skill and mixing capabilities, you would never know. He's been there 30+ years and has mastered them all.

With all due respect, that is from the horses mouth. He goes to other distribution centers in the country and trains their painters.

Based off his logic, if his car gets a scratch on the hood, he will repaint the entire car. YEAH. ok.

Enough with the arguing, we all work hard and are able to afford these nice cars. We're smart enough to be able to express our points of view and leave it at that. In real life, we'd all sit down have this discussion without any argument over beers. Let's just let it go please

No question, BMW or the dealer should cover the cost to repaint that hood.

Finding a good painter is probably the biggest challenge, but most AMG Merc dealers or definitely an F-car dealer will know a good paint shop.

You could always provide the BMW dealer with your preference after doing some research around good local painters.

I also noticed a handful of imperfections on my m5cs, in the same color…I chalked it up as "to be expected"…only car I've seen worse than the m5 is my 2020 m4…there are portions of the bumpers that the paint just couldn't lay down properly, mainly around the hard lines of the "fake" vents.

The paint on my 2022 Dodge Ram, however, looks to be near perfect 🤩…I think a lot of it boils down to technology and volume. I'm curious if some of these lower volume M cars, in which the paint machines may not be optimized for, end up with sub-par paint jobs.

Keep us updated.

Will never match like factory paint, especially frozen paint.

You will see a difference as soon the part is repainted in a different angle as the rest of the car.

Can it be done good enough? Sure but never like painted by factory robots.
