E90 + Nokia Phones
I am both a BMW and Nokia fan. Just got my new E90 320i about 2 months ago, and is comtemplating to pair it with a Nokia.
What are the tested and proven Nokia models so far ? How about those new Nokia models ? Thanks. |

I just got the Nokia 8801 and it paired perfectly. I'll update this post if I experience any trouble.

After using the Nokia 8801 for just one day, I love it. It transferred the address book to the car in just a few seconds. With my RAZR it took a few minutes. It also connected to my mac and uploaded all of my address book into the phone in a matter of seconds, again it took minutes with my RAZR. The only thing that doesn't work the way it did with my RAZR is that while the connection does show in the iDrive display, it doesn't show the signal strength.
It's not listed as a supported phone on the BMW site, but seems to work flawlessly except for the signal strength display. My RAZR didn't work at home at all, no signal. This phone has full bars in my home and works everywhere in the house. Areas that I commonly drive that had weak signals, seem to be very strong now. Thumbs up to Nokia! By the way, it's the same carrier - Cingular

Thanks for the update ! Nokia is indeed a good phone. That's why I am sticking on to Nokia to pair up with my E90. I am getting the new Nokia 6280 soon, waiting for delivery. Hope it can pair as perfect as your 8801.
Anyone out there tried the Nokia 6280 before ? This is the model in the East (where I am), but the model number may be different in the West. Its Nokia's latest slide phone with 3G. |

anyone try the 8801 for tmobile? im thinking about getting that phone.
im assuming that it would work for tmobile the same as it does for cingular since when i got my razr it wasnt under the approved list for tmobile but it was approved under cingular....hopefully someone can chime in on this.

Also, if you get a phone that isn't tested/supported/approved, you could find out one day after a visit to the service dept. that your phone doesn't work anymore after your car received a software upgrade.

Nokia 8800 with T-Mobile works great in my E90 (phone book transfer and hands-free), it doesn't transfer the phone book in my X5 though (and disconnects up call)
Yet another reason to drive the E90 - Jan

N80
Bizarely mine managed a partial phone book transfer last night, it passed on specific groups only.
Am simplifying my phone book (taking out multiple numbers against one contact etc) and will have another go tonight. Sorry for stating the obvious but if you have an N80 you need to allow the 'remote SIM mode' option in the bluetooth menu on your phone, I also did the send contact via bluetooth to car and that is how I did the partial upload (click check all and then pass across) I think that the main issue with the N80 will be that it's primary phonebook is the phone and not the SIM.......will be trying to change it. Will post updates with progress |

i think that phones that are not available at carriers such as those eastern high tech phones won't work. i have a Nokia 6260 and it won't work properly. i can only call using the keypad on the car or on the phone. can't download the contacts from the phone to the car.

Hi - Nokia 6131 works great. Only challenge is if I start the car with a Nokia BT headset also active, seems to get the car confused and needs a iDrive reboot to fix.
Enjoy |

I've got a Nokia 6280 and it doesn't work properly. I had no problem transferring the phone book. However when making or receiving a call the bluetooth connection often disconnects, and reconnects after hanging up. It is very frustrating. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this?
