MSS Height Adjustable Spring System

We have been working with MSS on their Height Adjustable Spring system over the last year or so. The F3X and F8X platform is now ready for release.

Key features:

* Fits into stock spring location so no modifications required to fit.
* Springs made by Eibach.
* Rear spring assembly has 3 different spring rates allowing superior ride comfort and handling.
* Works with stock EDC or Passive Dampers. We are also developing some custom spec Bilstein B8 dampers to compliment the spring system for those looking to further enhance the handling and ride of their car.
* Adjusters featuring patented design CNC machined in the UK.
* 0-30mm lowering - allows you to run at stock ride height if you just want to improve handling.

The first batch of the new MSS kits are being shipped and fitted to customers cars. Here is a review from a customer with a F80 M3.

Do these work with XDrive dampers?

They do but after riding on them for 2 weeks, I can tell you that they are significantly shorter than stock. The stock suspension on my F36 seemed too soft/floaty and being an xDrive it had significant wheel gap. That's all gone but at the cost of a much stiffer ride that hits the bump stops often over bumps, potholes, or sunken manhole covers.

there is similar thread on the X3M forum (although some saying they experience this at Stock ride height). Seems to be more reported issues stateside than uk though!?!?!

I would have thought for the price better off adding a bit more and just getting coilovers or even new dampers and lowering springs If coilovers are too much. Standard dampers don’t seem to be great.

Stock dampers are especially weak on the F36.

I have adaptive on the f30 and it is still not great. Coilovers will be the next upgrade.

I was curious about the comparison to adaptive and I'm sorry to hear it's not much better.

Honestly, for me it just feels like the front is significantly underdamped so I'm tempted to try Bilstein B4, B6, or B8. I've read B4 are 5-15% stiffer than stock (which might be even more with f36) so that could help. Otherwise, I know B6 & B8 are essentially the same, with B8 shorter to accommodate for lowering springs (and the price isn't too different). Any thoughts on this?

I love the idea but for a grand including fitting just for springs, seems very expensive - especially if they're still bottoming out on the bump stops as someone suggested above meaning you'd need to buy new shocks anyway = just get coilovers?

Adaptive is firmer in sports than my mates Non adaptive but still doesn’t sort out the damping.

It depends on if you want a drop or not I would like to lower a bit but not too extreme so may look at the b16 komfort (10-30mm). I prefer the look of the spring rates with the kw street comfort just need to find out if the min 30mm drop is based on se suspension or the 10mm lower m sport.

If you are looking at the damper route have a look in the suspension section I believe koni get some good write ups as well as the b6 and b8.

St xa come in at a good price point but not sure how they will hold up in the uk as they are not stainless.

Imran, I ordered a kit for my F80 but when it arrived it says M4 F82 on it. Is there one kit for both?
