Question Icon LED headlights not swiveling... normal?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
On my prior F90, my adaptive LED headlights would swivel with the steering wheel direction. Note, I don't mean the cornering lights, which would also turn on, but actual horizontal motion of the primary LED cluster.

On my new (2022) F90 I just picked up a few weeks ago, this swiveling effect seems to not be present. I have the headlight rotary dial set to auto (vertical position). I didn't check whether I have the indicator stalk AHB button activated, but my understanding is that is just for auto high beam functionality, not to turn swiveling on/off.... correct?

Is my car malfunctioning, or have I missed something?

Thanks!

The Adaptive LED Headlights no longer feature a swiveling LED module. The BMW Selective Beam is implemented via matrix segments (individual LEDs switched off).

Wow, my memory must be failing me! I could swear the prior car swiveled… but I do trust your knowledge.

Is there a minimum speed below which the matrix effect disengages? And, still, does the AHB button on the stalk have any impact on the matrix performance on low beams?

Thanks

They do swivel in pre-LCI cars. This is an LCI change.

My previous car was LCI too (don't ask) so, the badbrain still applies I'm afraid!

I believe You should still see the LEDs activating in different directions as you turn the car in order to light up the turn. They just don't physically move but illuminate at different angles.

Yeah, that's what I'm not seeing happening and I swear the last car used to do it. Is there a minimum speed below which the effect is disabled?

Either way, I'll ask my dealer to look into it when she goes in for her run-in service.

Unless you have a CS, it's disabled on US cars.

Thanks lemetier. Is this a separate behavior as the known lack of tunneling in high beams?

Can both be coded back on?

My cornering lights work when I turn the wheel while not moving in the garage. It is all in the owner's manual page 171. As someone mentioned the lights do not physically move, but certain ones turn off and on to provide the same effect. So if it is not work you have a problem. Just try it in your dark garage by turning the steering wheel left and right. You should see the lights on the wall in front of you changing.

Sorry, I misunderstood lemetier when he responded first. Indeed, my cornering lights do work. I'm referring specifically to my main LED matrix lamp.

So, recognizing that plus the comments thus far, I think my low beams are functioning as intended, but I am disappointed they don't swivel at all.

Im not sure if this is normal, I noticed my headlights do turn with the steering wheel but only to the right side. If I turn my steering to the left, headlights wont swivel.
It might be duo to LHD/RHD thing but im not sure.

High beam moves in both directions

My LCI seems to have the same behavior. If I'm turning slightly, I see no change in the low beam direction. However, if I'm making an actual turn, I see something light up to the side I'm turning to. Not really that helpful in my opinion. I liked how the adaptive headlights worked on my previous BMWs better.

Edit: Just noticed that the turning light pattern lights up after the turn signal is activated.

It is speed dependent.

Separate but tied together; have VLD and curve lighting functions enabled right now but only with HBA off.
