Good question, not sure. Call up your local BMW Service department and ask them, I’m sure they’ll know the correct answer.

Yes the car does have to be coded for the carbon ceramics. Not sure the exact process but this was done by another forum member on an M3 and coding by the dealer was required

You will need the dust shields, belly pan, brake booster, master cylinder, and coding/programming.

Ok so the Brake Master Cylinder seems to be the same on all 5 series. I looked on getBMWparts.com and so far the only part different other than the hardware itself, are the shields. Programming I'll stop by today the dealer and ask.
Edit: Just spoke to someone at https://tro-nik.com/carbon-ceramic-brakes-bmw-m5-f90/ and they did confirm that coding must be done, but all the master cyl and boosters are the same as the steel. Last edited by yvnrg1981; 08-19-2019 at 10:19 AM.. |

Ok so just spoke to a BMW SA and they said they can program the car. $230 for the programming. They also told me to tow the car to them. Does anyone know if this can be coded remotely? or if it really is that dangerous to drive it before coding it. I know it's a risk I get it and wanted your guys input.

How are you getting the system? Is it through getting the parts individually? I don't see the system available for purchase, such as for the F10 here: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/4...C-BRAKE-SYSTEM
