Charcoal Filter Delete

So on the 2022 M5C they have a Charcoal filter installed aswell as the normal air intake. Supposedly, removing these gains you around ~15HP. On previous M5s it seemed straight foward, so I went to go do it to mine.
Unfortunately, there's a Rollbar(?) or something in place on top of the air filter that doesn't allow me to remove it. Will I have to take this out to get that off? Don't want to take it off if it needs specific torqueing to be put back on or what not.

It's fine, just remove it and hand tight torque when putting it back. Has to be moved to remove the airbox

I just recently did this and it wasn't that difficult. Highly recommend following instructions, these are what I used and was very easy!

Attached for reference

Hope this helps and good luck.

I definitely think there is a slight difference to sound and performance after removal.

If you remove the charcoal filters would you get more exhaust fumes smell entering the car?

Or does that have to do with the Cabin filter?

Did not make a difference in terms of smell in my experience. It does increase the woosh woosh sounds slightly though. Or maybe I wanted it to so to me it’s louder 😂

I noticed zero smell from removing the charcoal filters.
