What Are People Doing for Winter Wheels/ Tires?

I took delivery of my F90 last Saturday, and ever since, we have been bombarded with cold temperatures and wet, slushy, snowy roads. Don't really want to put a winter set on, this late in the season, but I'm gonna run out of vacation staying home every time we get a couple of inches of snow.

There is nothing officially available anywhere yet (Tire Rack, BMW, etc), but was curious if people have identified wheels that will work on the F90.

According to my BMW parts guy, he is pretty sure that next Fall, BMW's winter set will be 9.5 x 19 all around, with a 26mm offset and 275 40 19's.

Any comments, suggestions/ recommendations?

BMW has listed the 705M wheels in ferric grey 19x9.5 ET26 all around as the winters for the F90.
Part number 36 11 8 043 663.

Late response, sorry!

BMW NA didn't bring in a lot of stock due to the late launch of the vehicle in the market.

BUT

The 19" 705M Square setup is available with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA5's in the US in limited availability.

US Part number is 36 11 0 003 558 (You won't find stock of the Part number from ETK in the US, 36 11 0 003 049)

They'll have the staggered 19" Winter setup out next season.

TireRack will have something by the fall. Around $3000.00 for the setup.

With summer going by quickly and more people taking delivery of their cars - looking to resurrect this thread a bit.
Interested in what owners who have to deal with snow, ice and sub freezing temps are going to do with tires, wheels, etc.

good idea . on my current F10 i have the 19" 408 M and i hate how the car looks on 19's so I'm not gonna make the same mistake with my F90 Competition. i will get the car in around a month then i will have time before the snow to negotiate a fair price with my dealer for the 706 M/jet black wheels(or the 789 M) and put winter tires on them with the same dimensions as the summer ones. the car will still have a great look during the winter .

I haven't researched winter tires yet, but I will probably put winter tires on the oem black 20inch wheels and find a nice pair of summer wheels and tires, perhaps 21inch.

I'm would like to do OEM sized 19" set. But no one has the winter tire sizes yet. Tire rack has one that will be in 20". If more come out with OEM sized 20s, I guess I will go with that. I've already started looking around for wheels and I think I might end up with Vorsteiner or HRE. My last car had OZs and they were nice and not too expensive.

Very interested in this thread as my 2019 allocation should arrive in December in the heart of the Midwest and will need winter tire/rims right away!

i will be getting the oem winter package wheels.

but my parts manager said try calling in middle of august as they might get better discounts etc on the package.

as it stands the wheels come in 2 variations non-staggered and staggered set up.

prices i was quoted are $5500+tax (CAD) for square set up and $6000 (CAD) for staggered

To all the "what winter" guys, you are SOFT!!!!

To us real men that endure the harshness of winter.
Anybody know the setup they use in all those online vids w/ the M5s ripping in the snow in Germany. I think it's a sponsored driving school.

I looked on tire rack and didn't see sotto zeros avail yet for my application. I'm just going to slap them on my 20" rims, it's a lease...

Pirelli Winter Sottozero now available at Tire Rack.

I just picked up my M5 comp on Friday and I fear that I will need to put in winter wheels before November in Massachusetts. Anybody think it's crazy to stay with 20" winter setup on this car?

From Canada here and I've been running 20 in winter tires for ever. You'll be fine.
