So a couple of tuners have announced very large upgrades to the M5 CS. Check out the 900bhp G-Power one for example. I've got a 2021 LCI Comp and my understanding is that no one has cracked that ecu yet. I'm assuming that the CS uses the same ecu as the power gains are marginal over the comp and the engine is identical. So does that mean the 2021 ecu has now been cracked?

The ecu has been cracked for a while but the only way to crack it is to ship it to femoevo in Russia, so most people don’t care to do it.

Interesting so does that mean that tuners like gpower have to send the ecu to Russia to be able to offer their tunes? And is it that the ecu gets cracked and then the tuner can flash after that for as long as they want, or does it have to back to Russia any time changes are made?

Once the ECU is unlocked, tuners like Gpower can play with it all they want, it's unlocked and can be flashed with their software.

But if you take your car to BMW, it will most likely get locked again, if they do a software update.
