MPE Owner q

Hi Friends

Just picked up a non-opf'd Launch M5. Keen for a bit more noise - but looking for an in-car video/audio (not mic'd outside) of the exhaust in Efficient/Sport/Sport-Plus.

Essentially I want to know if you're pootling along at < 2500rpm on a highway its basically not there, but when I want to behave like an adolescent its rowdy.

There appears to be loads of videos if outside and drive-by's but not on the inside for the "mother-in-law" approval.

Akra is better for these goals because it has valves

Agree you want an exhaust that retains the valves. MPE does not and won't get as quiet as others.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the exhaust button will still work cutting out the pops in the MPE. It might not get as quiet as valved system, but still retain the option to be quieted.

yeah, there was discussion in another thread surrounding the exhaust button simply enabling/disabling the overrun on lift off.

And that even w/ the M Sport exhaust, the valves don't really follow the drive mode/exhaust toggle 100% either.

Idk. The pops don't really have anything do with the exhaust but more then ECU. I get my pops and bangs from D3 setting mostly. But I imaging the exhaust button will stop that as well. Don't get me wrong certain exhaust will make them louder I suppose but they don't create them or stop them.

2022 M5C w MPE. Exhaust is plenty quiet in efficient mode while cruising. In Sport/Sport+ it’s still not loud in the cabin. Get some over run burble you can hear. Cold start is loud for the 30 secs it runs. Sport/Sport + under hard acceleration the sound is glorious.

I’m a total car guy, 60yo not some kid and I find the MPE to be just about perfect valves or not. This is all related to your specific question of in car sound

The car is so well insulated, it won't matter which exhaust you go for, when cruising in comfort mode it will be same as the stock exhaust.
